"(not even sure what you're talking about there)"
And, sadly, you never will be, since the ability to give a clear explanation is one that we all know Goth does not possess.

Right, because we have the freedom to smoke in bars and flush our toilets only once and eat whatever we want regardless of portion size or fat content.
Hold up, do you want to only flush a toilet once? Not even a courtesy flush? Or a this-much-sh!t-will-clog-it-up flush? Do you live alone?

In my last apartment you had to flush twice. It was really bad at flushing so either that or you had floaters waiting until the next time. I did get a letter from Barack (Sadam) Hussein Obama saying that I had to pay more taxes if I flushed twice and that he was coming to take away my Big Gulp.
So I see exactly where y'all are coming from.

You think nurses have time to give LECTURES?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!
It's called health teaching and there are organized classes on breast feeding and umbilical care and how to change a diaper PLUS more! we definitely emphasize breast feeding (sometimes diminishing the role bottle feed can play) and work w new moms BUT in the end it should be the mum's decision.
MY own take is whatever works, some mums never get their milk to come in or only a thin flow and supplementation is necessary. What I DON'T tolerate is the Judgemental a-holes that try to make a woman feel that she has FAILED as a mother and a woman if she doesn't breast feed. ( they do the same w "natural childbirth" vs having an epidural & episiotomy- yeah U try living w a 3degree tear - goatses are more attractive and less painful!)

Um, I don't mean to offend you but...you're a woman. What you want really doesn't have anything to do with anything. I *think* the men know just a liiiiiiittle bit more about these things than you do.

I mean, I wouldn't know how to conduct a normal life without people like Limbaugh telling me what to do.

And I'm pretty sure I read that in the original text of the bible, Lillith even said women are less than men.

I would imagine that long before a woman gives birth, she has thought about breast feeding vs. bottle, and has made up her mind which she wants to do.
Perhaps the nurse should ask the mother if she would like to hear the "lecture" before giving it.
Many women are repelled by the idea of breastfeeding. Others try but can't do it, etc.
Is Bloomberg locking up the formula along with the large bottles of soda?

"I flush the toilet exactly as many times as I please (not even sure what you're talking about there)"
A few years ago, NYC apartments converted their toilets to low-water toilets. The end result being what used to be accomplished with one flush now takes three because the toilet doesn't push as much water through.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

AH! So when you said you were no longer allowed to flush twice, what you meant was that you now always flush more than once? So don't you have MORE freedom?

I truly don't recall ever having to flush more than once.

I recall a point-counterpoint on some show where a cranky old man arghued with Linda Ellerbee over lo-flo toilets. And she asked him "Perhaps you are just too full of crap to use one of these devices?"

Hmm, I remember the toilet replacement issue differently. The old toilets were replaced with a commercial type toilet that has terrific water pressure. The flush is loud and powerful. Never, ever have to flush twice! So I had the complete opposite experience that Gotham had.

I have one of the commercial-type "low-flow" toilets (the style without a tank full of water in the back) and, like you, Jane, have never had to flush twice to get everything to go down.
Goth's experience that he's claiming to have seems eerily similar to an episode of King of the Hill.

Goth you don't live in NYC how how do you know? If you do then you haven't visited many other people in a while. I have a water saver toilet and it works fantastic! Always one flush even with heavy loads. You know crap!

I can't recall having to flush more than once in any toilet I've used in NYC.
However, I saw the Bloomberg Brownshirts knock a Super Big Gulp out of a guy's hand yesterday and then cart him away to be "re-educated".

I think he does live in NYC or at least he used to. He used to always complain about the teeny tiny overpriced apartment that he was apparently forced to live in.
