I think a Madonna/GaGa remake of ALL ABOUT EVE is begging to be made.
I've not been able to stand Madonna for years now. And her ridiculous British accent? What's up with that?
Jordan, brilliant idea!
'And her ridiculous British accent? What's up with that?'
Well she did live here for about 10 years and still spends loads of time here, it's gonna rub off.
I guess, but it seems that she acquired it as soon as she moved there.
Her British accent first appeared during the press junket for Evita. It has been there ever since.
To me it's the modern equivalent of Lina Lamont saying, "And I Caahn't Steeean' Him!"
Here's Madonna, practicing to be British.

There wasn't even a hint of it in the interview last night.
There was the other night on ET. Kinda weird.
Nice to see some love for Madonna on this thread - I had gotten the impression that everybody around here hated her!
She seems perfectly sincere and complimentary about Lady Gaga here -

If you ask Elton John, Madonna stole his Golden Globe.....
“Madonna doesn't have a [expletive-]ing chance of winning tonight,” Elton John said, without a trace of doubt in his voice.
Asked whether “those were fighting words?,” Sir Elton John replied bluntly, “No, those are accurate words.”
I saw the pre-show comment by John. It was over-the-top bitchy.
The best part was the followup, when they cut away to his droopy face during her acceptance speech.
EDIT: I just realized, Madonna may or may not win ... but she is very likely to receive her first Academy Award nomination for this song.

"Masterpiece" has been deemed ineligible by the Academy...for one of the lamest reasons I have ever heard. The song HAS to appear as the first music cue in the closing credits apparently to be eligible for an Oscar. Since her song is second during the credits, she has been shut out.

Back to the accent thing, I used to give Madonna hell about it, but I have a very adaptive accent myself. For some reason, it felt important to me to lose a lot of my Southern accent when I was growing up. When I was in Jersey, I caught myself saying things in a more NY/NJ accent. When I spend any time in Tennessee or even after a long phone conversation with my mom, my Southern accent pops back up. I have only been here for a year and eight months and I catch myself dropping in Swedish words from time to time while in the US. If those around me were speaking English with an accent, I am sure I would pick it up, too. It's unavoidable.

I also think that Madonna not only has lived in England for a long time... but her whole team/ stylists/people she collaborates with, producers such as william orbit-martin solveig--and her actor friends and her HUSBAND of many years were all British. It HAS to rub off....it IS unavoidable.
and who cares really? she works hard. she could do whatever she wants.
