I seriously wanted to punch someone when this sh!t was clogging up my twitter timeline.
I agree that it did get annoying after awhile. Especially since people were so insistent that they were right and the opposite side was wrong and blind.
best facebook comment, "If I had known black people were gold all this time, I'd have treated them better."
"So you really are seeing white and gold...in the first pic because the color levels were tampered with..."
But, Carlos, the craziness is that people are looking at that first picture and seeing blue and black. That's the fascinating part. Not the original color of the dress or the colors being tampered with, but how differently people are perceiving it.
I just sent that first photo to three coworkers. One of them said it's white and gold, and two of them said it's blue and black.
I see blue and black. Does that mean I'm more evolved? Or less? And why, when this blew up on my FB did I think it had to do with something the Republicans said?
The A and B block are the same shade.
^ Huh?
I see a sunglasses-wearing donkey.

growl, you know you are absolutely right. and that truly baffles me because nowhere in that tampered pic do i see any hint of blue and black...i truly see white and gold.
and i hate you being right growl, i seriously do, and i say that with all the love my heart could muster. . . xoxo
Taz, I saw that one a few weeks ago, and that's the first thing I thought of with this dress thingy.
Fascinating!
Does anyone else watch BRAIN GAMES on The National Geographic Channel? I'm obsessed with it. It's now on Netflix if you want to watch it and have some fun.
Ha! My chemistry teacher showed us the episode on optical illusions in class today. Yes, I am in the worst chemistry class on the planet.
Sounds to me you're in a pretty good chemistry class, Fantod.

It's a tacky dress and who cares what color it is? And why is it sucking up so much news oxygen when there are so many more important things to discuss?
Because it's a fascinating topic of conversation. It's something that proves how we see things differently and it's nice that people are taking an interest in the science behind it.
There are always going to be "more important" things going on. Are we as a society only supposed to discuss the "most important" topics in the world? And who would decide what topics are important enough to discuss?

I have no problem with fluff and silliness but does it really warrant the front page of a newspaper?
Yes, actually. Since it's gotten the attention of the entire world to look at something we all wonder about at one time or another. Again, it might appear to be "fluff", but I find it anything but.
And you can bet Fantod will write an essay on how we process color just as soon as he finds it online and posts it here.
I dare you to find one thing on any of my posts that was copy pasted from another source without quotations. And besides, what is the harm in sharing relevant information?
I triple dog dare you. (Insert assorted Chistmas Story references here)
Why don't you insert them along with random facts about it since I'm sure you're the worlds youngest person to know everything about that film.

Well, now I understand why immigration policy, climate change, Syria, police brutality, equality for women, the take down of unions and so on have been relegated to the inner pages.

You should do something for Syria every time you get there urge to post. Otherwise it is irresponsible of you to post here.

I just love it when we're having a discussion and someone always has to pipe up with how there are more serious things happening in the world to worry about.
1. How do you know we're NOT worrying about those serious things?
2. People are able and allowed to worry about several things at a time.
3. What are YOU doing about those serious problems?
4. It's a lighter more fun experience to discuss frivolity. Do we always have to be serious?
5. Finally, discussing a phenomenon of the human body is not really frivolous anyway.
