A racist, bigoted faction of Christians do not represent the religion as a whole.
Perhaps not, but as JG2 said, they do indeed make up a "huge portion" of Christians. The south has a reputation of ignorant Christian bigotry, but it's also widely found in small towns across the country. And that's just in our country. Ignorant Christian bigotry is still an international problem.
Do you know the demographic breakdown of practicing Christians, and how many of those Christians are of the skin color that JG2 claims many are "afraid" of?
Do you? I don't know the specifics, but growing up in Houston, I remember racist and homophobic "Christians" being Caucasian, African-American and Hispanic.
There are indeed some wonderful Christians out there. I know many. I didn't see anyone claim that the bigots define the religion or that they are even a majority.
