I use any kind that I find in the bathroom. As long as it doesn't contain conditioner, I think they're all the same. When the conditioner's mixed in with the shampoo, it doesn't get my hair clean. I put the conditioner in later. And then a leave-in after that!

VO5 or Suave, Works fine for me.
suave
but we pronounce it swa-vey so it sounds more expensive
I have about five different shampoos that I cycle through (switching every two or three days). I've got some Pantene, some Garnier Fructis, John Frieda, Head and Shoulders... Probably some more stuff behind that.
It depends on the season. A more moisturizing shampoo and conditioner in the winter and a lighter one in the summer.
I like the Matrix line.

We burn sage and then ground flax seed. Combine it and then mix a little lavender. After that Pantene.
Brd, would you swear to that under oath?
I don't think he would, Miss P.

Herbal Essences for me too. The straightening, de-poofing kind in the pink bottle. It keeps me from looking like Carrot Top.
I've never noticed a difference between how a shampoo works. I base my decision more on how it smells...and what's on sale. Though I do think there's a big difference between conditioners, which I agree must be separate from shampoo. There are lot's I like, again, usually based on smell, price and performance. (incidentally, this is also how I choose my hookers)
I use Redken. That stuff is amazing, and if you get the huge bottles, it can last about 9 months.
Herbal Essences. The orange bottle that claims to be best for dyed hair. Whenever I use Herbal Essences, at least once a week someone will sniff my head and tell me I use Herbal Essences. So sometimes I'll get Alberto Balsam, which is also cheaper. But I keep coming back to Herbal Essences, like a dog to its vomit. ^_^

Bumble and Bumble Creme de Coco or Bed Head Moisture Maniac.
Tresseme Color Protective line and pretty much all of their styling products. I also keep a bottle of Infusium for when I know I need my hair to behave perfectly.
I alternate. This morning it was Paul Mitchell Tea Tree.

Pantene is my most common choice, but every other time I buy shampoo, I get something different. I rotate Pantene, Dove and Infusium. You should rotate so you don't get in a product funk. I used to be a Paul Mitchell or Sebastian girl. I just can't drop the money for salon products.
After reading this thread again, I see the ones I use are popular in the thread-Herbal Essences (if you get the big bottle in Costco, it lasts for the rest of your life) and I just bought Garnier Fructis yesterday.
Garnier Fructese. It's cheap, it smells good and it makes my hair bouncy and silky.
I like Herbal Essences but its expensive and I miss the seventies logo with the hippie blond girl bathing in a multi-colored Eden-like pond.
