re: What show are you doing?

you spelled it right

I'm surprised so many schools do two shows a year. Is there one that is more popular or more focused on? Or one you personally take more seriously? We have a fall play at my school [actually a spring play too] but neither are taken very seriously at my school because not much time goes into the actual production and it's not very organized.

re: What show are you doing?

I just finished a run of Cowgirls. In the fall my theater class does a Chekhov adaptation/playwriting section, then we have a spring show, but we don't know what that is until around January of next year, because the teacher needs to see what we have for new seniors.

re: What show are you doing?

I hope to audition for both Beauty and the Beast for probably the fall season, and then Oliver! for the spring season after my school musical is over. I definitely don't have a different type of voice than these two musicals, but we'll see how it goes. I'm more of Elphaba in Wicked as opposed to Belle in Beauty and the Beast... strange comparison I know.

re: What show are you doing?

It's just been announced we're doing Seussical, as well, for our Fall musical - and I can't wait! I, personally, am tossed up between auditioning for the Sour Kangaroo and Gertrude, I adore both parts!

Our winter drama is still TBA but our Spring play is "The Increased Difficulty of Concentration" by Vaclav Havel and I haven't even heard of it...

Anyone?
Without ME it's just aweso.

re: What show are you doing?

I have no idea what they are going to do with the part of Sour Kangaroo at my school... there is no one ready for that part. Everyone told me to audition for that part, but I am not going to because I know that I wouldn't be singing it the right way and it would probably kill my throat after a couple of nights... plus, I think she is kind of annoying the show. Anyway, the remaining folk in chamber singers think that they should just get rid of Sour Kangaroo in our show or change him into a guy... Question: Is it an automatically known fact that Cat in the Hat has to be played by a male in the high school version, because Cathy Rigby played the Cat in the Hat during the Seussical run on Broadway?... just a thought

re: What show are you doing?

ya know, I was just thinking about that the other day (cat in the hat by a female; that is) it is completely possible and I was listening to the soundtrack in my car and i thought, "Hmm, what if I got called back for Cat in the Hat." I go to a small school and I know we're going to be scraping the bottom of the barrel as it is for male parts so it's completely possible the cat in the hat will be cast female.

Blech, i just hope I'm not called for it - I wouldn't even know where to begin making choices for that character - although it would be cool to be "The Cat in the Hat".

re: What show are you doing?

I'm playing Don Quixote in our production of "Man of La Mancha" right now which opens in late October, Zoser in "AIDA: School Edition" (WORLD PREMIERE BABY!!! WOOHOO!) in January, and Pseudolus in "A Funny Thing...Forum" in May. We're also doing "Sweeney Charity" in November, "Jekyll and Hyde" in March and "Beauty and the Beast" in April, but I wasn't cast in those re: What show are you doing?

re: What show are you doing?

Actually, last fall was the production of "Absurd Person Singular." This semester they are doing Bat Boy...it actually starts playing on Oct 20th. I didn't get cast becasue they were looking for singer's who could act, not actors who can sing *which is more like me*

Oh well, can't get everything. In the spring semester we are doing "Midsummer's Night Dream."

This past summer I was in Alice in Wonderland.

re: What show are you doing?

well, i'm not involved this semester because I'm an RA (I wouldn't be acting anyway, it'd be more production stuff...) But this semester we're doing the world premiere of Jonah's Dream: A Comic Strip (written by William Gibson of Golda's Balcony and Miracle on 34th Street fame), Stop Kiss, and Into the Woods.

I'm crew for the Advanced Drama show at my school. I've not recieved a job assignment, however.

I'll probably help out a lot for my mom's next play...it's called You Better Watch Out.

We're doing Hello Dolly re: What show are you doing? ,but this summer I'm audtioning for 'The King and I' should be fun.

I have NEVER met Cheyenne Jackson. I have never hung out with him in his dressing room, he did not tweet me, he never bought me a beverage, and he mostly certainly didn't tickle me. . .that is all.

re: What show are you doing?

FALL - Wait until Dark
Musical - oklahoma, kill me now....were only doing this becuase our school said we must get a musical that includes every orchestra instrument...i hate it

re: What show are you doing?

We have a theme for our winter performance, but since it's student written script and I didn't help write it this year I've yet to see it. "That's sooooo cliche!"

Spring...more Shakespeare unless our school decides not to be cheap and does a musical. (Guys and Dolls...)

re: What show are you doing?

There have been high schools that have done "AIDA", but MTI is releasing a "AIDA: School Edition" and our production will be the first to perform it. It's how they have "Les Miserables" and a "Les Miserables: School Edition". A lot of the songs are lowered, and there are parts of the script that have been edited.
