I chose that I am an Episocpalian and didn't go to church last Sunday, but somehow I ended up smack dab in the center, neither left nor right.
I'm really shocked by that, since I consider myself a liberal. I'm pro choice, pro equality (marriage, race, etc.), I support full background checks on all gun owners, I think religious organizations have NO place in government or politics ... so how did I end up in the middle? It says I "worry how the economic system is becoming increasingly unfair," which is true. Yet I'm part of the New American Center.
So how could I be a "Pickup Populist," whatever the hell that is?
Something went wacky. I can't think of the last time I supported a Republican agenda or idea. That's ever.
I may not be a "bleeding heart liberal," but a liberal for sure.

Other than indicating I'm "occasionally religious" even though I think religious organizations should have zero say in government or politics ... I can't think of anything I answered that could swing me "reddish" or conservative.
I'm for taxing the rich, raising the minimum wage ... where's my "red" answer?
Wacky poll results.

I think it's meant to inflate this mythical American middle, which doesn't really exist, not when you get right down to it. First, the poll people set up extremes, and NOBODY wants to be considered extremist. Then they try to push your responses to the center so they can tell people who lean one way or another that that's OKAY, but more people like to believe they take the best of both worlds.
It's BS, basically.
I still don't know why it called me a Hockey Dad Bottom. That's just bizarre.

I definitely think these results are swayed to establish their stance of a New American Middle.
My answers may be "common" or "popular" but they are not conservative by any means. Based on their scale, I answered just as many questions with a conservative answer as I did with a liberal one, which is far from true ... considering I don't think I gave them a single conservative answer. But I did give them a few extreme liberal answers: (no say in politics for regions organizations, absolutely raise taxes on the rich, marriage equally all the way, race equality all the way, etc. Some of my answers were in between, but none of them swung "red," even just a little bit, let alone extreme.
I should have been (at worst?) halfway between the extreme liberal and the center (or three-quarters liberal), but not dead center.

Agree.
Although, I believe there's truth to the fact that many of us don't fall neatly into a single category. Many of us DO fall somewhere between 'Bleeding' and 'Talk Radio Head' (which is the category that came up when I purposefully filled out the survey with the most right-wing answer I could imagine).
There's room in the national dialogue for the middle or moderate view.
(eta: Apparently the most right wing category is 'Righteous Right')

Oh, definitely! I was interested because I'm not what I would call an extreme liberal, because I do have a few (very few) moderate views. None of them could be considered conservative, though, which is why I can't see how mixing my extreme liberal views with my moderate views could land my squarely in the middle of their grid. I would have had to give an equal number of extremely conservative answers to do that. None were even slightly conservative, let alone extreme.
I enjoyed taking the quiz though. Good questions. I just wish the grid and the structure of the results were less biased on their own behalf.

I landed in the bleeding heart category, as well, and it's surprising. I am almost always leaning to the right side of the left.

I guess I'm one of the bleeding hearts. Funny how they never asked any questions about immigration. I'm sure I would've been leaning much more to the right on that.

Bleeding Heart. Shocker.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

Diva, there was one question in there about the government providing more funds to help illegal immigrants become legal citizens.
Did you take the longer quiz, or when they asked if you'd had enough questions, did you stop there?

This "test" was absolutely biased to give a certain result- One question jumped out at me - something about taxes and the options included answers like "I think poor people should pay less taxes" and "I think everyone you pay their fair share of taxes no matter how poor they are."
"Fair share" is obviously a red herring- for many people, their "fair share" IS ZERO. "Fair share means just that- FAIR.

I took the longer quiz and didn't have one question regarding illegal immigration.

Yeah, I was looking at the article that went along with this and was confused by some of it because I didn't remember seeing anything about some of it. Makes me wonder how really accurate and unbiased it is. I figured I would be on the liberal side, but never the extremes.
I also agree that they should have put no religion and Atheism as separate things in the religion thing. Because there are plenty of people who are open about being an Atheist. But, I would choose none automatically because I just don't care and don't consider myself anything.

So nobody else had the question about illegal immigrants?
I forget the wording of the multiple choice question, but it had to do with how much assistance the government should offer illegal immigrants (it wasn't about the immigration itself).
The answers ranged from we shouldn't offer them any government aid at all, to we should provide assistance to educate them and help them gain legal citizenship in the U.S.
Seriously? Nobody else had that question?
