Okay, that's just weird. Were we not all given the same questions?

Talk about skewing.

Actually, the more I think about it, the more I remember it was not a multiple choice question, but one of those "strongly agree" vs. "strongly disagree" sliding scales, where you picked a dot on the line somewhere between the extremes.

The question was something like (paraphrasing):

"Illegal immigrants should receive government assistance that helps them to become legal U.S. citizens."

Then you picked a dot on the scale.

EDIT: Regardless of how it was worded or presented, I definitely remember this one, single question about immigration.

I got an immigration question- but not that one. I did think it odd that it asked if I'd had sex last weekend.

As others have noted, the conclusions seem odd. Not that I am NOT a bleeding heart--and not that I won't wear that label proudly--but I really tried to be as thoughtful and honest as I could be, and the fact is that I feel a creeping Libertarian tide rising within me--the nightmare that is healthcare.gov has me less enthused about letting the government do things than I used to be.

I wonder how important the selection of "strongly agree/strongly disagree" affects people's ratings. I wonder of we "bleeding hearts" selected the more militant/emphatic position, while those who selected 5 or 6 out of 7 got more middle-of-the-road titles.

Still--it's an interesting quiz, and I'm going to take it again and spend some time calibrating some of my answers more accurately. I'll let you know if it stops my heart from bleeding.

Note to B12B: I don't think I had an immigration question like the one you describe.

i got that same immigration question that BEST is talking about. i did think the s*x questions were a bit odd and pervy, as has been said before i dont think that has any thing to do with someones political views.

I'm not sure how people are making the leap to "pervy" in response to a survey question that--only very slightly--inquires into frequency of sexual activity.

I've encountered a number of studies that correlate a variety of sexual traits/preferences/etc. with any number of other traits, including political party affiliation and liberal/conservative ideologies.

Never trust anybody who is too squeamish to answer a sex question on an anonymous survey. They are not serious grown up people, they are scary dried up non-entities like Jesse Helms. Helms, some people might not know, was a racist, reactionary right-wing Republican (redundant!), who stopped a sex survey from going out to every American household because it might have saved lives from AIDS. There was a moment, a millisecond in hindsight, when the US might have been adult about one of the most important aspects of being alive: sexuality. But the GOP put a stop to that.
