Hey guys -
Just got back from an audition/callback (they're only in town for the day, so callbacks were happening right in the room), and it was a bit aggravating. After I did my prepared material (two monologues and a song), I was indeed "called back," and had to sight-read two different pieces of music for two totally different characters (one belty, one operatic), and they had misplaced their extra copies, so I had to try and read it over the shoulder of the pianist, and the type was tiny, so I really couldn't even see it. It was hilarious. I kept sort of stopping and/or sing-speaking, "I can't see the words," or "Myabe I need new contacts" and stuff like that. They probably thought I was nuts. Oh, well. I'm hoping that as other people will probably have similar problems throughout the day, then perhaps I'll look OK by comparison. hehehe
How is everybody else doing?

L, yes they are getting old!
E, at least they were nice, I cannot tell you how many timemy wife has said those sitting in the chairs do not even say hello or acknowledge her presence at an audition.
Brd, that reminds me of the opening audition montage in Tootsie:
"Is my acting interfering with your talking?"
I came home to find that my darling kitty has managed to dig out a bag of treats she got for Christmas, open it, eat half of it, and scatter the rest all throughout the house! Now all she is giving me is the "What did I do?" sweet/innocent face!
Banal!
I've never been much of a cat person, but my friend has two of the cutest cats ever. I can spend hours just watching them play.
Who you calling banal, SM?
I hope the cat doesn't get sick!
Hebrew was great today, I did nothing. Other people taught my class literally the entire day.
Going to see The Apple Tree tonight.

brdlwyr & gettinhep: Well, I've been really lucky. I've never had the talking-the-whole-time thing happen, although I must admit I have been on the receiving end of the complete-cold-shoulder, don't-even-acknowledge-my-presence thing once or twice. Those are the auditions where I say, "I could've set myself on fire, and they wouldn't have noticed." But again, I haven't run into that too often.
This was not one of those times, however. The only problem today was that I couldn't see the music very well. Stupid eyes! *sigh*
So I just found out that on top of my 25 y/o co-worker who just passed away suddenly, a 16 y/o grandson of a family friend just died as well. He was with another teenage boy playing with a shot gun and *surprise* it went off. I don't understand with how many made for TV movies, etc. there are out there, things like this still happen!
I'm sorry to be Debbie Downer, I don't mean to be.
We need a bartender around here, quick!
Erika - I hope you get it!
Setting yourself on fire...
Gee, those auditions sound pretty painful. You deserve that job.
*cue lights*
God I hope I get it!
I know how it is... when we had the storms here in December, people died of asphyxiation because they had their power generators inside. I mean, really! I'm the least mechanically inclined person I know, yet I know not to turn on a motor in closed quarters.
"I kept sort of stopping and/or sing-speaking, 'I can't see the words,' or 'Myabe I need new contacts' and stuff like that."
LOL!
I'm always speaking in singsong -- drives people bananas!
DD - that's all that went through my head after I typed that....

Hey, thanks so much for the positive stuff, guys! I'll be sure to let you know if I book it. The gig doesn't start until the summer, so I have no idea when they'll be making decisions. It was a funny experience, though. :-P
Tink: I am so sorry, that's really tragic. Grab a mojito, OK?
SM2: It was silly of me, to be sure.
Erika - I will get right on that! =)
Are you still involved in those shows at the Disney park?

Tink: Yes, actually! It's funny you asked, 'cause I just got called today to pick up a few shifts over the next week or so. And my new show starts rehearsal in February and runs through May, so I'm pretty set, show-wise, for a while.
That's awesome!!
*sigh*
It's snowing! It's cold! The bridge is iced over. Fun times. I will need many mojitos tonight. Many. Mojitos.
We had a brief tease of snow, but otherwise it is just really cold and windy here at the moment. I think this is the first time I've really had the heat on in well over a month!
DD - What is a normal (i.e. anything but this year) winter like in your area?
Down here it is hot, windy and smoky. Summer in the city.
Hep - what area are you in?
Melbourne, OZ.
