We should start a club.
The worst thing he ever did, in my opinion, was not only to ruin New York, New York, but to convince the masses that that was how the song was done. Sickening.
I raise my glass to Fred, John, and Liza.
Hear Hear!!! to Fred, John and Liza with a Z!
i never understood the appeal, or why there are so many singers trying to emulate him like Michael Buble and that guy who sings on Las Vegas...
OVER. IT.
*trying not to tear up at work*
joeyjoe - RIGHT...if you have to try to sound like someone else just to get noticed - well who cares? I don't want to be compared to anyone else, ever. I want to be known as my own individual person with my own voice and saying my own thing.Damnit!
I love Michael Buble...the man is incredible.
redhot and joeyjoe, I want to be your female life-partner. How can we work that out?
Rath I just don't know how to answer that at the moment...LOL...
Take your time, darling.
i personally, prefer Sandy Duncan's rendition of New York New York...
now now...Keep your eye on the topic at hand, jj
Joey, you're getting silly now.
NOW he's getting silly? oh I just reminded myself of That Meryl Streep line in Death Becomes Her...when she just drank the potion and is listening to Isabella Rossilini dictate a warning...
NOW a Warning?
All I know is, I could live happily ever after with you two tasty boys (by tasty, I mean having very good taste, dontcha know...).
oooh - you just sounded like Bette Midler with that dontcha know thingy...
Actually - not only do we have good taste -but we taste good to!
I HAD TO BE SAID!
oooo!! And there you are with YOUR Bette impression!! Very good. And yes, I was going for the Bette feel there.
I can't remember which concert it is but in one of her very old albums (see, I'm dating myself again) she does the first number in a bed wheeled out on stage - after which she screams at the audience:
"I bet you thought I was gonna do the whole show in Bed. WEll I don't DO shows in BED no more - I'm an Artiste!"
LOL!!! Funny Bette.
Okay time for this Bette-impersonator to sign off!
later all.

Gene Hackman because as much as I love Hoffman, I agree with Margo that he wears his technique on his sleeve. You can always tell when he's acting while Hackman has such ease in his roles.
Bill Murray with a landslide. He's such a brilliant comedian, but the way he handled his role in Lost in Translation was just brilliant.
Meryl Streep or Julianne Moore are both two of the finest actresses. However, if I had to choose one, it would be Meryl just because she's Meryl and has had years over Moore.
Sammy Davis, Jr I guess.
Michael Moore
Mike Nichols big time. Spielburg wishes he had the talent that Nichols does. I still do think that Wit is the best made for tv movie that I have seen.
Billy Joel or Elton John? I'm not into either really.
George Orwell[
Paul Simon
Rodgers in terms of contributing to musical theater and Hammerstein as a person...though Hammerstein's contributions cannot be denied either.
Kerry...if only more people agreed with me.
