Marvin is adorable, but totally doesn't make for an attractive tattoo! Especially on a 40something year old man. Eeek.
On another note, is it true that you can't be buried in a Jewish cemetery with tattoos? That seems awfully old school. Does that rule apply to all Jews or just conservative Jews?

I got mine because I had overcome a personal struggle. I'm getting another as soon as I get through this struggle, heh.
I think it's ignorant to immediately dismiss any/all tattoos. Most people in the world that have tattoos aren't Jewish and wouldn't be buried in a Jewish cemetery regardless, so what difference does it make if it's against *your* religious beliefs? Not to mention, would you say to someone that has a tattoo honoring their dead father/mother/grandmother/child that you don't support their decision to get a tattoo? That's about the same as me running into your non-tattooed cemetery and kicking over gravestones.

I have seven tattoos, all on my arms. There isn't a lot of spiritual significance to them. I just like them. One is celtic knotwork, four are tribal and two are kanji for the word "genius," as a reminder to myself.
Also, you can be buried in Jewish cemeteries with tattoos. Your rabbi may not be thrilled about it but it can and does happen, all the time.

I don't have one at the moment. I've often considered getting one, but never got the desire to actually do it. At this point, I go either way. If/when I do it will probably be a Tinkerbell (surprise, surprise) on my hip and later in life a Celtic looking cross on my back with my children's names. So far, I've just stuck with piercings. Buzz has a black panther (fav animal) on his arm and i love it.
I love tattoos on men if done right. I've dated a man who had the sleeves and full back done in tattoos, but it was very artistically done, not just random skulls and stuff. Loved it! Lately, I've had a thing for men with the inner lower arm tattoo, sexy!

Emcee, you're totally right about the preaching thing. It's so tiresome.
No, it doesn't mean "one." It doesn't mean anything - that's why I said they are 3 letters, not 1 word. All three getters together, it symbolizes something - but not a word.
