I remember when poor Jennifer Holiday accepted a invitation to perform for him last time and all the hate she got. She then backed out. Have they started inviting artists yet? Would be curious as to how this round goes.

Tbh,I have no plans to watch anyway. I'd rather watch paint dry.
I hope he craps his pants on stage like he's been doing so frequently in public lately.
Has anyone read about this? They have raised a little over $74,000.00 at the time I posted this. They are getting backlash...

Carrie Underwood will sing "America the Beautiful" at the inauguration. The Village People will perform at one of the inaugural balls. Lee Greenwood has also accepted invitation to perform.

For anybody wondering, it isn't really the classique line up of the Village People, just Victor Willis and a bunch of random replacements whom nobody has heard of.
And Victor Willis has long since gone down that rabbithole... :/
Billy Ray Cyrus will be performing even after Trump insulted his daughter. It's no wonder she doesn't want to have anything to do with him

Kudos to Carrie Underwood today. She was told to wait for her music cue before starting to sing "America the Beautiful". No cue would come, and she ascertained the instrumental track was broken. She then asked the audience if they knew the words to help her out and sang it a cappella. She sounded wonderful and showed she was a real professional handling difficult situation at a huge setting being broadcast around the world.

Maybe but in the end, it made it more memorable. People (including President Biden) sang along, and it became newsworthy how professional Ms. Underwood handled the snafu. If there was no snafu, it would not have been a positive news item.
During the National Prayer Service following the inauguration, a bishop reportedly addressed issues including compassion for immigrants and LGBTQ individuals. In response, former President Donald Trump criticized the bishop on social media, calling her remarks political and ungracious. He further questioned her qualifications and demanded an apology, while also expressing dissatisfaction with the service itself.

And then Underwood threw a hissy fit afterwards backstage.

If she did, so what. She sang the song wonderfully and handled the music mishap like a professional "on stage". The articles you are quoting said she was displeased not having a stage or a platform. She was thrown into a crowded room with a microphone, not ideal situation for singer. She was quoted as saying this threw off the acoustics. She wanted everything to go perfectly, nothing wrong with that. I am sure most people on this board have heard of worse behavior from some of the Broadway diva's -lol

While inaugurations are typically remembered for their ceremonial aspects, it seems Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde’s sermon during the National Prayer Service has become the defining moment of Trump’s inauguration. Her call for compassion towards immigrants and LGBTQ+ individuals stood out and sparked widespread discussion.
Trump’s subsequent criticism of her on social media has only amplified the attention on her remarks. For many, this exchange may overshadow other elements of the inauguration itself. Time will tell if this becomes the lasting memory of the event.
What did you think of the sermon Zeppie?
Carrie Underwood and Nelly saw clear shifts in their streaming numbers after performing at Donald Trumps 2025 inauguration, showing how public perception can affect consumer behavior in a free market.
On inauguration day, Underwoods streams dropped 6%, going from 1.55 million the week before to 1.46 million, according to data from Luminate. Nelly saw a similar decline, with streams falling from 1.63 million to 1.54 million. Both artists did see small bumps in digital downloads, but those stayed under 1,000.
The backlash started as soon as their performances were announced, with people on social media calling for boycotts and criticizing their decisions. Despite the criticism, both artists defended their choices, citing patriotism and respect for the presidency.
This situation highlights how performing at politically charged events can directly impact audience support, as consumer behavior reflects personal values in a free-market system.
