(my apologies for the terrible title, I think I mixed up two sentences writing it)
Mind you I am for gay marriage, or at least equal rights. But here is what a gay friend of a friend said about why he is against gay marriage.
"I dont need the title of being married to be happy with my current partner."
and
"I can see how the adverage straight guy is against it, its morally wrong, and I realised I have sinned. But ya know...I cant help it."

maybe you don't want it because you can't form proper sentences

Self-loathing is a terrible, terrible thing.
I agree with the first one - although it's not really a reason to "not want" marriage to be legal - just why they can cope.
As for the second one...*shaking head*
get out of my head, d! or at least make us some tea.

Read. Comprehend. Post.
"I can see how the adverage straight guy is against it, its morally wrong, and I realised I have sinned. But ya know...I cant help it."
Your friend is a misguided, self-loathing, homosexual. No doubt due, in large part, to the company he keeps.
i read that second comment in disbelief...
"i realized i have sinned . . . but i can't help it"
give me a break. does this guy still live in the dark ages?
and how could he as a "gay man"" think it's morally wrong?
sounds like he has MAJOR ISSUES and being homosexual IS NOT one of them....

on second thought this smells like a thinly disguised "message". . .

I wish I knew him directly, I would pick his brain with so many questions.
Marquise- I am not in any way shape or form a homophobe or anti-equal rights.

"I dont need the title of being married to be happy with my current partner."
I've been with my partner for 10 years (just celebrated, thank you very much) and I don't need the title to be happy. I do need the security, though, of knowing we have inheritance rights, visitation rights and the 1000+ other rights that marriage confers to straight people.
i agree, marquise, it smells.
I dunno. It reads fishy to me.
Most of the homosexual partnerships that I know are more healthy that 95% of the straight partnerships.
I actually have a gay friend who also opposes gay marriage because he "does not believe in special rights for minorities."
*shakes head*
I love you... but I hate the term "breeder".
Ew.
Gimme the rights first and I'll fight about the word later.
"I actually have a gay friend who also opposes gay marriage because he "does not believe in special rights for minorities.""
Ask him if he believes in equal right for all Americans. No one is asking for special rights.

It makes me sad that there are so many bad opinions for every good one.
This thread proves a nagging, disturbing thought that has been living in the back of my mind for a few weeks now.
GAY PEOPLE CAN BE JUST AS STUPID AS STRAIGHT PEOPLE!
Oh the horror...
Oh the humanity...
i also have several gay friends who are not interested in the institution of marriage. however, i believe the point is that if two people love each other enough to make that public and legal declaration it should be available to them.
being hetero means to me that if i should decide to marry, nobody can prevent me from doing so. i would like to see gay couples have that same option.
"I dont need the title of being married to be happy with my current partner."
No, buy when he ends up in a comma after a terrible accident you might just want to be able to be by his side in the hospital.
"I can see how the adverage straight guy is against it, its morally wrong, and I realised I have sinned. But ya know...I cant help it."
"I just can't help sinning, it feels so good!" Call Dr. Laura, loser, I'm sure she could help you get over your feelings of shame.
"when he ends up in a comma"
Or, heaven forbid, a semicolon!
Ha!
I always knew that punctuation could kill ya.
