Posted: 1/10/09 at 12:12amThere was a restaurant near me that used to make pizza like I've never found again. I think the difference was the cheese on the pizza was 100% provolone. They also made their own crust and sauce. You'd pick up a slice and not only was it heavy...it oozed pizza juice down your arm as you held it. Pardon me while I go take a cold shower.

Posted: 1/10/09 at 9:12amI have 3 slices left over in the fridge. Should I eat them for lunch or be healthy and have a turkey sandwich?

Posted: 1/10/09 at 9:49amThe cafe at my school serves about 20 kinds of pizza every day. They do a barbecue chicken pizza that's out of this world. They sprinkle it very lightly with brown sugar before they bake it. It adds a slightly sweet caramelized crispness to everything.

Posted: 1/10/09 at 9:15pmI never thought of pizza as unhealthy compared to other foods that I would eat, like burgers and steak. Our cafeteria pizza would be crazy oily, though, so we'd pat our slices with a napkin first. Also, my favorite pizza when I was little was the grandma kind and those looked kind of healthy to me.

Posted: 1/10/09 at 9:38pmThat's basically my point. No, pizza isn't a fresh bell pepper, but it also isn't an ice cream sundae, a slice of pecan pie, general tso's chicken, cheese steak, cheesecake, cheese danish, steak au poivre, foie gras, or a zeppole.

The pizza they served at C.W. Post was amazing. I remember they had several kinds (sometimes, they'd have the one with chicken) and it was delicious! Not greasy or salty at all.
I also love brick oven pizza and flatbreads. The best thing is to go to one of those Flatbread restaraunts and order about two or three pizzas to share with friends. It feels like you're pigging out, but in a good way.
Also, I think it's all in moderation. If you get the greasy pizza every day and eat it for lunch - well, of course that's going to be unhealthy! And since there's different approaches to pizza, there's bound to be a healthier alternative. (If you do enjoy the greasy kind, just be sure not to eat it everday, simple as that. (:).

Pizza for dinner last night, pizza for dinner tonight. I think it's safe to say I'm healthy again. And what better food to eat than that most healthy of foods - pizza!

^Indeed. You are correct.^
I ate one of those Celeste pizzas for one last night and it wasn't good. So I learned not to skimp on something as important as pizza. It's Tombstone from now on, if I'm buying frozen.

I have to confess - I am a pizzaholic. Totally addicted....could never give it up.......have never met a pizza I couldn't eat.
But I have to say, coming from Chicago - I miss the pizzas I used to get there. Only place I've been that could compare was New York (specifically the Bronx and Brooklyn).

Hey! What about Pizza Plant, Vic?
I don't particularly like NYC pizza. I think the pizza here in Western NY is much better....*ducks and runs from the NYC peeps*

I'm a regular patron of Dominos (yes, I know...) on Tuesdays. TwoFerTuesdays. My regular order is two thin crust pies (for the price of one), light on the sauce. They cut it in squares and pieces of it serve as breakfast (yes, I know) or lunch for the rest of the week. It's considerable lower in calories and fat than a traditional pizza (for which I would NOT go to Dominos). And truth be told, I really love it.

Posted: 1/11/09 at 11:10amYeah K, I loved the Plant........but I don't consider that "traditional" pizza. For what I term as "traditional", you just can't beat Chicago and nitty-gritty New York style pizzas.
#121re: Why is pizza considered unhealthy?
Posted: 1/11/09 at 11:28amI know, I was kidding. But you also didn't have the traditional pizza we have here either. It's the best. Pizza and Wings baby. No one does it like Buffalo.....

Well, at least Dominoes is like real pizza. I once had pizza from Pizza Hut and I swear it's just a grilled cheese sandwich.
