I'm serious. I keep hearing pizza referred to as a "guilty pleasure", or a fast food that should be avoided, etc.
I consider it a healthy food.
Pizza is one of the few perfect things in life, and should never be disparaged.
You have a very high IQ, madbrian!

The typical American pizza is loaded with bad white carbs and bad fats.
Mrs. Brd's pizza on the other hand has whole grains, low fat cheese and enough veggies to kill me!
PJ is making me hungry.
mmmm
I had pizza tonight
PJ that is the exact kind of pizza that I like the best-very slimy and gooey, not too much cheese.
The way I see it, pizza has olive oil, which is healthy, tomato sauce, which is healthy, cheese, which is protein, and so what if you eat some unleavened crust?

I love pizza as well. The only real concern I have is all the grease, but that's why you don't eat it every single day. And you also can dry it off a little with a napkin, if you choose.
Actually, I shouldn't be one to talk. I ended up stopping at Pizza Hut a few days ago for their lunch buffet. Luckly, the pizza slices are small, same with the bread sticks, and I didn't eat a ton. I was in heaven.
A mirror version of this question:
This summer, my bf and I got into having fresh heirloom tomatoes with mozzarella, olive, oil, basil, and some wonderful bread.
We were feeling sort of Mediterannean and virtuous till one day he hesitated and said, "Um, this is just . . . deconstructed pizza, isn't it?"

Reg, we had the same last night but on some wheat crust and not bread. And, the tomatoes were AWFUL!
Marianne: I generally despise Pizza Hut, but when you are on the road or in the burbs, the lunch buffet is perfect - not a bad salad bar and most huts are the same!
Pizza Hut gives me the trots.
I'm eating my Lean Cuisine Garlic Chicken pizza right this very second.
I find it okay.
If you're relegated to having to settle for a frozen pizza from the supermarket, I'm recommending Tombstone pizzas. Not cheap ( a tiny one in my store is 5.99) but they are really good!
If only I could get good pizza in Asia...even the pizza hut here isn't the same. My 1st stop back in NYC was to John's Pizzeria on 44th St. Now that's pizza !!!
TimeSquare, Pizza Hut does not do well with my stomach either. Unfortunately, my son gets these free Pizza Buffet coupons for reading at school so I have to eat there once a month.
I'm making a yummy pizza tomorrow with bbq sauce, chicken, monterey jack and cilantro.
but yeah. Pizza's not that bad as long as you don't load it with bad stuff.
I used to get those coupons too. Which is why I ate their all the time, now my body can't handle the destruction is causes. I love our (semi) local pizza place Tonarllos. It is AWESOME!! My mom can pig out on those 50 cent food club frozen pizzas.
Stockard, if only your son were illiterate . . . !
Do you make your own BBQ sauce? If you don't, give me five minutes and I'll change your life.
oh my god stockard
that sounds SO good
like
my mouth is watering
No Reg, I use the Jack Daniels BBQ sauce. Don't make me work more than I already do!
And yeah, Masie, the chicken bbq pizza is the yummiest.
I'm a diehard purist when it comes to pizza. I prefer the simple basic ingredients of cheese and sauce to all the fancy shmancy toppings. Don't even start me about pineapples on a pizza!
OK, OK.......PM me the recipe!
