While I can appreciate a terrific plain pizza, I really love all the meat toppings. There are six of us in our family, so we usually get two large pies - one plain, and one with pepperoni, sausage, bacon, and ham. Throw in some parmesan bread sticks, and maybe some mozzarella sticks, and I'm a happy guy.

For thin crust lovers - anyone been to the Star Tavern in Orange, NJ? They're famous for their thin crust bar pies.

Why did I open this thread? It's 8 A.M. and I'm craving pizza.

MUST.NOT.OPEN.THIS.THREAD.AT.LUNCH. I have pizza crusts, sauce, pepperoni, kalamata olives in the fridge. Must not eat.

At least it's just an inappropriate time of day for you. I have a queasy stomach that isn't allowing me to consume anything that isn't a clear fluid, and this thread is making my masochistic food fantasies run wild! I keep dreaming about all the delicious things I'm going to eat when I can eat again, even though it makes me feel sick to think of them. re: Why is pizza considered unhealthy?

Do you have Dr Oetker Ristorante pizzas over there? Since the Ugly pizza disappeared from the supermarket shelf, that's my absolute favourite pizza. :3 I like a good cheesy pizza myself; sometimes I'll have something fancy, if it's a nice restaurant with knives, forks, and thin crusts, but mostly I just want the cheese. Maybe a few stray veggies. :3

There's a place near me that serves baked potato pizza. It's basically a regular pizza crust with about 1/2" of mashed potato smeared over it, topped with bacon, chives and cheddar, baked and served with sour cream on the side. I don't have the courage. But my sister says it's out of this world.

Bertucci's used to have a thin crust pizza with Alfredo sauce, scallops, bacon, basil and Romano cheese that was wildly good.

But my favorite is the kind of pizza you get in those little greek places in strip malls...sauce, cheese and pepperoni. The key is the way they brush the edges of the crust with oil so it gets really crispy with dough blisters from the oil.

I forgot about Costco pizza, OMG! It's one of the best pizzas I've had-go figure.

The only thing better than Pizza is cold, leftover pizza for breakfast.

I bet they stole that idea from Pizzeria Uno's potato skins.

If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

Joe, I've heard of people liking cold and even frozen pizza, but that's where I draw the line. I don't even like it at room temp. It's got to be hot or at least warm!

Goth, I was going to say the same thing re: Uno's Pizza Skins.

Those things are awesome, but I heard somewhere that they are one of the most fattening things you can eat.

Weez, I'm sorry you're not feeling well.

Shannon, get a whole wheat crust of some sort, and put a little olive oil and garlic on there. Then some mozarella, not too much. Then some VERY lightly steamed baby spinach (like 30-45 seconds), then thinly sliced plum (roma) tomato slices. It's yummers and as far as pizza goes, fairly healthy!

Walmart now carries ready to use fresh pizza dough for like a dollar. It's also available in whole wheat. It's in a bag and looks like a big softball. Just take it home and get to work on it with the rolling pin. I found it in the ready to eat deli section. Makes for a delicious homemade pizza.

Here's my version of a healthy, yummy thin crust pizza:

Flat Out Bread..spray it w/ a little Pam and bake at 400 for about 5 minutes to get it crispy. Then I use sauce, 2% mozz (yummy and melts much better than fat free cheese), turkey pepperoni, green peppers, onion, and top w/ oregano.

Then I bake it for another 10 minutes or so until browned.

Here's the site for FlatOut Bread..the "light" versions at only one WW point.

I'm planning on being healthy for tomorrow evening at the latest, for Saturday night is family pizza night. Then I'm going to consume as much crusty cheesey saucey goodness as I can, and laugh manically as I do so. re: Why is pizza considered unhealthy?

Cold pizza is the best Sunday brunch. It also makes a delicious midweek lunch if you've been bad and ordered pizza in the midweek. :3

I"ve made my own pizza (from scratch) several times and LOVED it! Nowadays I'm too lazy to deal with the dough, yeast, etc. so I buy mine. There's no problem in NY, though, with so much great pizza around.

I'm so glad I started this thread. I had no idea my favorite food was so popular with folks on here~

I wish I had seen this earlier! I simply don't trust anyone who claims to not like pizza. This is, as far as I'm concerned, impossible.

My personal favorite is Margherita, but I'll take regular cheese and pepperoni as well (and I'm with Jane...no weird toppings)! Stockard, your recipes sound delicious. I'll have to try to make them for my roommates when I have some spare time this coming semester.

justagirl, margherita is also my favorite. I discovered a place down the shore where I go in the summer, in NJ. Their margherita pizza is the best pizza I ever had. When I first discovered it, I had a second piece. Not because I was still hungry, but because it was so good. I think the pizza guy thought I was nuts because I was carrying on so long about how it was better than any NY pizza!

Can't wait to be back down there next summer~
