I like Kathy a lot. Always have. But she's half the comedian and a quarter the fashion expert Joan was.... Not sure how I feel about it.
WTF does she know about fashion? especially compared with Joan Rivers. I mean, i get them wanting a comedienne, but it seems like they should just cancel the show. I don't really think anyone can fill Joan's Shoes. I do like Kathy Griffin, but not for this.
When they decided to keep FASHION POLICE going, Griffin was my first thought. She's the only person I thought of in terms of keeping the show fresh and providing it with the bite that characterized Rivers' presence in the panel. I'm sure Kathy Griffin knows a thing or two about fashion. It really doesn't matter, what they need is someone who can make the show entertaining and who's not going to suck up to the celebrities the way some of the other panelists do. Love Kathy Griffin, really hope they close a deal with her.
I mean...not to sound insensitive, but Joan's dead. Someone is going to have to take her place. And Griffin makes the most sense. She may or may not know much about fashion, but she knows celebrities, which is really what this show is about. Do we really look to Fashion Police to know what's on trend? Do we think Giuliana or Kelly actually know anything about fashion? Even George, God love that adorable Greek pocket-gay, seems to have questionable taste at times. They need someone who's fluent in celebrity culture, who's real f*cking funny and who can anchor a show like this. Griffin makes complete and total sense and I can't wait to see her on it.

Well, what I gleaned from this thread is that "fashion" is something only akin to rocket surgery.
Well she has to beat the 'Bruce Jenner is now a woman' joke to death somewhere.
Looking back, my post came off kinda harsh. I really like Kathy, And can see them going with her, but i don't like the idea personally.
If you don't like Griffin, of course you won't like this news. But to say she's not qualified for the job because she's not "fashionable enough" makes me wanna
Fashion Police is about a group of people being funny and bitching about what rich people wear, just like when friends get together and watch a Red Carpet show. They'd hire Diane Von Furstenberg & Bob Mackie to be on the panel if they wanted actual fashion critiques. Give me a break.
I mean compared to Joan Rivers (on knowing fashion). And if you were referring to me, that Quote is incorrect.
I didn't say your name and wasn't talking I you specifically but you asked what the hell she knows about fashion so I suppose regarding that, it was addressed to you. I guess. I mean, if you REALLY need it to be about you, you can read it that way.
I guess i shouldn't have even asked, because i was the only one on this thread that questioned her fashion sense.... LOL.
I will admit that people are right that the show does need someone who is going to bring a lot of humor to the show- especially since the others there are no even really funny. I just feel it's a step down-That's all.

And to be fair you are probably the only one on this thread who thinks "fashion" is like brain surgery.
How is it a "step down"? Who were they gonna hire that you'd feel was step sideways? Griffin and Rivers were good friend, Griffin is someone she respected and Kathy Griffin has always said Rivers paved the way for comedians like her. It's not about replacing Joan Rivers, but about finding someone who'll be able to provide the humor, and like I said, who will not be afraid to make fun of the celebrities.

Is brain surgery anything like rocket surgery?

Yes, I stole the joke. But reverted to something less nuanced for the second post.
The show never required any sort of expertise in fashion, so it certainly wouldn't matter now.

To learn all about fashion, do what Pat Stevens does. "Pick up a good book. They're not heavy!"
@ ray-andallthatjazz86 - Anybody would be a step-down in my eyes, which is why i said that I thought it would be. I don't find her anywhere near as funny as Joan. I tuned in for Rivers.
I will add that Griffin is the closest one could come and the best replacement for the show if it continues- I just don't really see her on the same level as Joan- that is all.
Um, okay.
^ You seem uncertain. LOL
You said you only ever watched the show for Rivers and that anyone else would be inferior, so I'm not sure why you would have such a reaction about Griffin. Seems like the show and any replacement would be moot.
^ I would have reacted to same to anybody else- which is what I already said. Soo, what is your point?
