The extended deadline is tomorrow, Mon 7/29. At this time tomorrow, CBS2 may be dropped from TWC's programming (CBS2 being the affiliate that covers the NYC area).
TWC and CBS are in debate about their contracts for six cities: NYC, LA, Boston, Denver, and two others I cannot remember off the top of my head. All major cities may have CBS dropped for TWC customers.
I find this very hard to believe since CBS has the #1 show on television. Also if they make me miss BIG BROTHER than TWC might get burned to the ground.
According to the tech guy I had on the phone the other day, CBS wants time Warner to pay them an increase at a 600 per cent increase. He said both sides are very willing to negotiate and that tw won't drop CBS tomorrow. For whatever that's worth.

All the cable companies SUCK. Once your "promotions" run out they jump your rates and seldom will negotiate (with customers) - I know you are talking about negotiations between cable and the channel. So for the 4th time I am switching. My house can take either CableVision or Verizon Fios. Thursday I am switching back to Fios, getting a much faster internet connection and paying the same price before the $40 per month increase that CableVision refuses to discuss with me.
Dropping CBS means dropping SHOWTIME, which I sincerely doubt that TWC will let happen, considering all of the refunds and account adjustments they'll have to make. And for the record, I positively DESPISE TWC! Unfortunately for me, they have a monopoly in my neighborhood unless you live in a private house and want to go with satellite.
Remember the days when television was free?
on the bright side, no more 2 1/2 Idiots or The Talk
Sue--there's a Russian link in the Olympics thread. Could you be a dorogiye devushki and go in and translate it?
Joey, if you promise to give me a clean slate and amnesty
Never mind.
We can use Google Translate.
It's not needed or wanted around here.

Some of it still is. I don't pay anything and get CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, and a handful of other channels for free using an antenna, just like the old days. If I want more I could pay for it, also like the old days. Nothing has changed there. People just seem to assume these days that paying for cable is a necessity, as opposed to a luxury. I'm surprised at the number of people I meet who always seem strapped for cash but never even considered canceling their cable service to save some money each month.

Yes, but in the old days, all programming took place on those few channels. You didn't have to go anywhere else. Now there are hundreds of other channels and thousands of things to watch. Much of the educational tv I like is on cable. And I think HBO is the finest of all in tv broadcasting. Yes, you can watch for free, but you're extremely limited.
Being limited doesn't bother some people who don't watch that often, but I think most people like the variety out there.
Here in Palm Springs, TWC has already cancelled the local NBC affiliate.
So I wouldn't make any hasty assumptions about what TWC will or won't do.

This happens all the time all over the country. Has Time Warner never dropped a channel in a spat before? You'll get it back eventually, but CBS's ratings will have no bearing on whether or not Time Warner drops them.
Phyllis, it's happened here before, but never with one of the Big Four. (Of course, that label is generous to NBC. Maybe TWC thinks it has more leverage because of the approaching Olympics.)
Google is still not as crazy as some of the trash bags who troll here...
