Well, what did you think of the premiere? I constantly watch the reruns, and find it is no where near as funny as the older episodes. Debra Messing looked a lot heavier. She did not lose her "baby" weight yet. I was also sad to see Harry Connick go. But, I liked Gregroy Hines and Woody Harrelson the best as her boyfriends. Give Will a boyfriend already. It is unrealistic that such a cutie would not have one. Karen and Jack are still my favorites but are now a little over the top. I found the show last season when Jack was dancing in the background with J-lo perfoming hysterical. His do-rag kept slipping off.
By a lot heavier, I assume you mean something approaching a healthy weight.
Exactly. In the old episodes, she was so boney. She does look better.
Here's hoping she stays that way and doesn't return to her old three calories from death look.
i read that Bobby Canavale was joining the cast as Will's boyfriend... i think it was in Out magazine...
He'll last all of 3 episodes then, like the rest of Will's boyfriends. Bobby Cannavale is hot, too.
Yes, popculture, she looks fabulous. She needs to keep this weight.
Does anyone remember the episode with Matt Damon when Jack suspected he was straight singing in the gay man's chorus? (funny episode) He asked Grace to seduce him. She tore off her blouse and there was nothing there.
Well... as I posted on another thread, I thought the season premiere was awful! I used to love this show, but it's just no where near as funny as it once was. This week Jennifer Lopez, next week Janet Jackson... give me a break! Whenever a show starts trotting out one celebrity after another to make inane guest appearances as themselves, you know they're getting desperate. I know it's just a sitcom, but shouldn't it have some base in reality? It's just gotten too ridiculous and over the top for me. And thank you Broadwaylady... yes... when will they give Will a boyfriend (who will last for more than two episodes) and have him enter into at least a quasi-realistic relationship? A good looking, in-shape, lawyer with desposible income and a Manhattan aparatment to die for... and no boyfriend or sex life to speak of? I mean come on! Is this show really doing as much for the gay community as many purport?
Ah! I missed it!
I was at work and I didnt realize that it was premiering this week... how sad.
Because when he's in a relationship the focus of the show is changed and the balance is shifted.
Rath... then why doesn't the same apply to Grace? She's been allowed to have one long-term (for T.V.) boyfriend after another, and has even been allowed to get married (and now apparently divocred). At least her relationships tend to last a season or two. She's seen actually having a life outside of her relationship with Will.
It does apply - it's boring when she's in a relationship too - I'm thrilled they're getting rid of Connick. I also couldn't stand when she was with Woody Harrelson. The only one they made interesting was the Gregory Hines relationship, because he was Will's boss and carried over to other storylines.
Well... so be it. Then I guess you're not looking for anything even slightly rooted in reality. For me, if I don't find the characters and the situations at least somewhat believable, I just can't relate and my interest wanes.
I'm not in a relationship - does that make me an unrealistic gay character?
I didn't mind Woody Harrelson dating Grace but only because he played his character so very very well.
Gee Rath... I don't know. Hard for me to say. Are you in Will's age-range? What do you look like? Are you in-shape? Are you a successful Lawyer? Are you well off? Do you have an apartment to die for in Manhattan, or another cosmopolitan city with a large gay population? There are so many variables that come into play that could/should increase a gay man's chances of having at least one meaningful relationship in seven years. I mean... I'm gay, and I wasn't in a relationship for many years either. But then again, I'm not Will and I don't have his life.
Nor are you in a TV sitcom.
Just because someone is gorgeous and successful doesn't mean he'll be in a successful relationship. You know that.
I never said he had to have a successful relationship. Grace's relationships are ultimately not successful. I'd just like to see him get laid every once in a while!
Oh well, nothing wrong with THAT. I just don't think that show does long-term relationships well, and I do love the basic writing and acting so much.

~LOVE Megan Mullally
~Debra Messing looks SOOO much prettier now.
Well I only got to see half the episode because I only set my VCR for a half hour. With all the promotions the cast did this week I didn't hear one mention that it would be on for an hour. Now I'll have to wait for them to re-air the episode.
The premiere was dullsville. The timing during all the J-Lo scenes was way off (gee, I wonder why). The Grace/Leo situation was a real downer and the rest of the humor wasn't funny enough to lift it up. It could easily have started as Grace having already left him and they move on to something else. The whole Should I/Shouldn't I thing was a waste of time and brought nothing new to her character. If you know Grace, the entire episode was predictable.
The whole Grace and Leo thing was depressing and should have been left out altogether. The show ended on a depressing note.. Jo-Lo, a megastar, millionaire riding the subway? That is about as believeable as Will not having a boyfriend. I guess they like Will and Grace single because the whole story line is about their relationship. The funniest episodes to me are when the character, Beverly Leslie, are in them. I think they know the ratings are slipping so they are bringing all these big stars in.
