Awww, cat's cradle!
I had 3 skip-it's... 2 purple ones (the first one broke the second one was stolen) and then I think a blue one.
Actually, I used to play Lemmings at school... I'm not quite sure what it was supposed to teach us.
I never played pogo ball, I don't think. But there is a ferbie in my closet that occasionally wakes up and then will not shut up for about a million years. It's quite frightening. Remember though a few years later they came out with like a weird clam version??? THOSE were really scary.

I can relate to almost all of these... reading Goosebump books, Pogs... I even still have my old trapper keeper.

SweetQ...I always wanted Mall Madness, but never got it. I never did get a skip it either.
I remember that my school went through different crazes, usually culmunating with the thing being banned. One year, everyone was buying yo-yos and playing with them all the time, and it was like a competition as to who had the best one. Another year, gigapets (which got banned), slap bracelets were popular for a while, pokemon. Another year, everyone started bringing Gameboys to school, which got banned.
And then there were things like people pretending to be the Spice Girls and singing their songs ALL the time, and marching around the school like they march in the movie. Or the "I'm Blue" song. All Star got sung all the time also.
Katt, I ditto all that you say. It's all so true. They would always break out on the bus though. lol.
I grew up with the Spice Girls... I was very into girl power between the ages of 8 and 11 or so.
I'm Blue... by Eifel 65. Oh and Smash Mouth! lol. This thread is great...

Cat's cradle! That's what it was!
Katt- mall maddness was "wicked" haha. Seriously- I would play that every waking moment.
and wasn't there a girl game?? I forget what it was but it was almost like truth or dare?
You spin the thing and whatever you land on, you have to do.
Something like: Go ask your neighbor for ice. Or, paint the nose of the person sitting to your left.
Girl Talk. Which I think I also still have in the hall closet. And it had something to do with using red stickers for zits. lol.

Oh, I know what you're talking about SweetQ, but I can't place the name. There were so many fun games back then though! Like Hungry Hungry Hippos, Sorry, Don't Wake Daddy, Mousetrap (I think it was called. That game was more fun to set up then it was to play almost! And Guess Who)
Other random things I remember:
My friend and I watching Twister, and thinking that the part where the cows fly by was the funniest thing in the world. We must have rewound it 20 times in a row and laughed hysterically each time. Of course we WERE seven at the time.
Going to see the Lion King for the first time in theaters.
Watching Night in the Afternoon, or Snick. I still remember Stick Stickley's Rhyme: Write to me, Stick Stickley, PO Box 163, New York City, New York State, 10108.
I remember Duck Hunt Tournaments, and how I always erased my brother's Donkey Kong game trying to do the cheat code for extra lives.
Going to school when we were little, we rode with a friend who had a TV in the car, which was so cool, because no one had them then. We always played nintendo in the way to school.
Oh, and Dunkaroos, which were amazing. I'm so weird, I actually got nostalgic for them, and ordered 4 boxes from an online store. I stumbled across it somehow...I thought they had stopped making them! They were the Shrek kind, but still as good as ever.

You got super excited when it was Oregon Trail day in computer class at school (and Amazon Trail!)
I have to ask - does anyone else remember playing this in school? I remember in 6th grade my friends and I would always create parties w/ each other as characters and compete against each other to see who could die the fastest. In fact, it was from this game that I learned the meaning of the word famished, because I used to always set the food rations to that... those were fun times.

That's exactly it! I was originally going to type Girl Talk but then for some reason I thought it was wrong! You are good! lol. I thought with my vague explanation- nobody would get it! Good job!
I remember playing twister. There were 5 of us playing and it was crowded. We were having too much fun. My friend's leg got caught in between 2 people's hands and well...it broke! Ouch! That was the end of twister for a loooonnnngggg time.
Oh- and don't forget operation! I killed that guy a million times...haha
OMG, Girl Talk. Apparently when my oldest sister was younger, she called a boy to tell him she thought he was cute and the guy made fun of her, so when I got the game, my mom said we were never allowed to call anyone. Which I kind of liked.
Don't forget Life! I loved that game. And...pop goes perfection! Fun jingles...juicy fruit is gona move ya...
Ace of Base was the big thing in 3rd grade, TLC in 4th grade.
And dunkaroos made me think of String Thing.

I remember TLC and everyone singing No Scrubs. S Club 7 was a big deal also. Also, I remember when Graduation by Vitamin C came out.
We used to have a music video channel called "The Box" (Channel 6. It played music videos 24 hours a day, and you could call in and request one, if you payed like 2 dollars. We begged and begged our parents to let us request one, and they finally said yes, but they just put us on hold so we never got to do it.
We actually STILL play Oregon Trail occasionally in AP History. But we used to play it all the time back in Lower School./
Does anyone remember playing Jurassic Park, 3D Dinosaur, Treasure Mountain, or Allie's Playhouse? Or those Jump Start to Learning Games?

Katt - I used to play Math Blaster when I was younger. is that what you mean?

"Graduation" was released around the time of the end of my fifth grade year. We played the song so many times at my birthday party, because we were, you know, graduating from elementary school.
Oooh, nostalgia.

Another game I loved was Jamangi(sp?)
S Club 7- I used to make up dances to "reach for the stars"
And Graduation- even to this day I cry during that song. I actually am graduating on Friday- I hope they don't play that.

Sure, NO SCRUBS.
But do we remember NO PIGEONS?
Broadway Legend Joined: 1/22/06
No, I was talking about some other games, but I DID play Math Blaster quite a bit.
I also remember all those old school PBS shows like Ghostwriter (Word!) and Magic Schoolbus and Wishbone and Arthur. My mom's a teacher so she was into educational shows.

Aww, I used to read the Wishbone and the Magic Schoolbus books.

I think I may still have Ghostwriter stickers... I should look.
I loved the Ghostwriter episode where they went back in time and I also seem to remember something about a Slimemonster.

I remember sticker books. Trading stickers was like the most important thing. You really had to think about giving up one sticker for 2 that the other person has. I mean, are those 2 stickers worth the value of this 1?
It was such a serious thing back then.
Broadway Star Joined: 12/25/05
yeah, Ghostwriter was a great show. Unfortunately, I couldn't find the stickers... but I did find my old Spy Tech gear.
"That's exactly it! I was originally going to type Girl Talk but then for some reason I thought it was wrong! You are good! lol. I thought with my vague explanation- nobody would get it! Good job!"
Thanks! :) Yay me!
On the theme of games, does anyone remember Pretty Pretty Princess? I loved that game... actually, so did my little brother. hah.
I used to love Ghostwriter... and Are You Afraid of the Dark? Wow. I said it already, but I really do love this thread.
Broadway Legend Joined: 1/22/06
I used to own that game actually.
And we had some spy tech stuff also.
We also had these huge walkie talkies that were made to look like big cell phones, and headset walkie talkies. We used to use them when we played Cops and Robbers at night time. Our best friends lived in the house behind us, so we would always go play in the space between the houses.

RENTingFAME- how old are you? I think we played the same games. Although, I think I was a little old for pretty pretty princess when it came out but I do remember it.
