Posted: 12/22/12 at 9:14pmI used to love her so much. But now when I see her I get the same feeling as when I see someone at the gym with a discman.

In just a couple of years Madonna is going to look like Mae West did in her later days.

She's there already, as the pic proves.
I would say JerseyGirl absolutely nails what I am feeling when I make posts where she sets me up for perfect punchlines, like when she said "like I'm an effing idiot":
I would say Namo is more mildly annoyed by her, but that he takes joy in her ridiculousness.
Both things are true! Madonna's an effing idiot and I take joy in her proving it so publicly again and again.

Agreed.

Posted: 12/23/12 at 10:17amSorry, but I see too much animosity towards her on your part to be nothing more than having fun. I think you know that already, Namo.

Hate her all you want, but give me "Madonna" "True Blue", "Erotica", "Ray of Light", "Bedtime Stories" and "Breathless" over most of the crap music put out right now.
(I'm talking about the entire albums, not just the singles.)

Posted: 12/23/12 at 12:53pmOh, I agree ONE MILLION PERCENT with that. I'd even put "American Life" on that list.

Posted: 12/23/12 at 12:55pmThe animosity, Jane, is that I think she is the ultimate mean girl and that for all her alleged smarts, she's pretty stupid. Also, she treats the people who pay back the ridiculous advance she owes Live Nation with such disdain that I wonder why they keep going back, let alone letting her off the hook for 98% of the stunts she pulls. No matter what, though, it all makes me laugh. At her not with her.

Posted: 12/23/12 at 1:04pmOK, but I've never read a post on that level of hatred from you about anything else under the sun! This goes deep!

Posted: 12/23/12 at 1:17pmBuyer's remorse maybe? I spent so much money on vinyl albums, 12 inch remixes, CDs, CD singles, movie tickets and concert tickets, that once she broke the camel's back of my patience I had a lot of anger over staying in that relationship much longer than I should have.

Posted: 12/23/12 at 1:29pmI get what you're saying, Namo. I won't even attempt to add up the money I've spent on her over the years. And for a while it pissed me off, but honestly I don't care. At the time whatever I spent the money and/or time on made me happy. It doesn't so much anymore so I don't spend the money (plus I don't have an extra $500 to see her from a seat where I'm not just staring at a monitor the whole night) and it doesn't bother me. Maybe this was just a phase in her "evolution" and next year she'll put out an album of showtunes and play Feinstein's. I'll never write her off completely because she meant so much to me for so long but, for the time being at least, I've taken a step back and am just watching this phase of her career from a distance.

Let me go on record, again, that if she can muster creativity that she used to be able to gather around her at the snap of her fingers and she comes up with something surprising and good, I will indeed say I think it's good.
For me, the laughs with sanddman in this cycle stem from when he started posting those tinny, flat ass "sneak" clips from MDNA and saying they "sound GREAT!"

You mean that album that got mainly good reviews everywhere? yes i did think they sounded good.
And i dont care if you hate her but even just watching the performance of Gang Bang shows how exciting she can be to watch on stage. Even at her worst (American Life, Bedtime Stories) i would much rather listen and watch her in comparison to the s**t out there today in the pop/dance charts.

Yes, most people as we age feel a nostalgic connection to the music and artists that mattered so much to us when we were younger and dismiss absolutely everything from the current era as inferior. There is nothing new to this. Sometimes we even hear these new things our favorites release as being much better than they actually are, such is the Pavlovian endorphin rush our beloved artists create in our brains.
Of course, there is PUH-LENTY of creative, innovative stuff being released nowadays that is infinitely more vital than the phoned-in MDNA (which apparently was well received by the mainstream arbiters who also praise much of the "the s**t out there today in the pop/dance charts," the success on which much of songandanceman's "facts" of Madonna's current quality rests), you just have to care enough to look for it and not be a grumpy old man who knows it can't be as good as it was in the good old days without hearing a note of it.

Posted: 12/23/12 at 3:01pmIt has nothing to do with nostalgia since I really like her current stuff. And no I don't think much creativity exists in the POP/DANCE charts. Various other genres of music yes, but as a huge dance music lover then no. Also last night Madonna acknowledged her smoking rant during the final performance of the MDNA tour. During Like a Virgin she performed it with a cigarette and asked for a light from the audience.

What does that MEAN? She "acknowledged" the rant? She made fun of something she was criticized for doing? Like when she apologized to hydrangeas?
I don't get her meaning and I don't understand what you get out of these stunts. What does it mean to you?

Posted: 12/23/12 at 3:15pmOh p**s off Namo, what did you want her to do....issue a statement? good lord she had a mini meltdown so made fun on stage, most celebs just ignore completely when they do something daft, i thought it showed she had a sense of humor about it. Obviously though people on here wont because she sad, pathetic, over, mean, old blah blah blah

Posted: 12/23/12 at 5:07pmFrankly, I don't "want" her to do anything. I just don't understand what this "addressing" meant. That's all.
