As some of you may remember, I lost my grandmother on Christmas morning 5 years ago. The holidays have been pretty rough for my family since then, but last night we feel we got a sort of message from her!!
about 10 years ago, when Jophn Gotti was on trial and Sammy 'the rat' testified against him, my uncle was following the story and mentioned to my grandmother that Sammy was going to be on the stand, and she responded, "oh you mean Sammy the rat?" Now, that was a very unusual way for my grammy to talk, and it always stuck out in my uncles mind as a weird thing for her to say, since she would usually call him a "criminal" or some other word.
Three or four nights ago, my uncle was watching a story about Gotti and Sammy and remembered my grammys response, and he wished for some kind of sign from her on Christmas. Well, last night about 11, we're o nthe back porch and a HUGE rat jumps into our pool and just starts swimming!! My uncle didnt tell us the story behind it until we got rid of the rat, but we were all pretty amazed. In the 20 years my family has lived in this house ,we've never seen a rat outside, ever!! We think it was my Grammy just letting us know she;s still with us on Christmas I just thought it was a cool story to share!!
I'm sure your Grandmother would be thrilled to know that a rat floating in the pool is how her family remembers her.
Awwww...
...that's...
...GROSS!!!!!!!
A Christmas story to end all Christmas stories.
Well, that gave me a warm fuzzy feeling.
Grandma says hi.
Well.
If it really was your Grandma, she must have been one twisted sister when she was alive if she sends a sign like that.
alrighty then. sorry I posted anything!
Everything, the teasing is all in fun. You must admit, it's a story about a drowning rat.
it wasn't Rizzo, was it?

I guess I'm weird in thinking that the story was cute and kind of funny. I'm glad it made you and your family's Christmas a little better!: )

Everything, I think that was a sweet story and have no doubt your grandmother is with you and watching over more often than you realize.

I love that story. And maybe it was Templeton.

EverythingIsRENT: Entertaining story. Certainly made me smile. If that drowned rat inspires you, more power to you.
thank you to the posters who actually got my story instead of just making fun of it. Christmas has been SO HARD for us lately and this was just something that made us laugh and think.
also, the rat wasn't drowning at all, it was swimming like it was a hot summers day. My dad just fished it out and took it out in the backyard.
