Here's the video of it.
Tom and Matt Lauer

"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter

Well... I will try to see the movie only because it's Spielberg... and I'm a sucker for disaster flicks.

I actually thought the first part of the interview was kind'a cute. But he can be so condescending. Maybe he should treat my friend's bi-polar disorder.

Even though it opens days earlier, I hope that BEWITCHED performs better than Tom's flick.

I have always, always disliked Tom Cruise, and people could not understand why. Now they're starting to see what I'm talking about.

The man is a ignorant, arrogant fool. I couldn't even bring myself to watch it, so I read the transcript, and seeing it in print made it even more disgusting. When you keep calling the other person by his name, it's just so damn arrogant - He knows his name is Matt!! You don't have to end every single sentence with it!

Not that I was ever going to, but I will never see a Tom Cruise movie again.

Tom Cruise has just taken the insanity a step farther. In a much less pronounced example of the same phenomoenon, Barbara "I was depressed but I pulled myself up by the bootstraps" Bush espoused a similar sentiment in her biography a few years back. It was the very last time I was to ever give her the benefit of a doubt.

Asses.

God, I just read the transcript. Tommy sounds like Little Red in Into the Woods.

"I know things now..."

I don't mean for this to sound as elitist as it's going to come out, but who cares, it's Tom Cruise: People who focus on their careers instead of having any formal education, come across as so stupid when they say things like "I know this because I know the background."

Really, Tom? WHAT are the sources? Any NON-Scientology related documents in your vast wealth of study?

What the hell would Tom Cruise say to someone who has schizophrenia? Take vitamins and exercise?

"There's no such thing as a chemical imbalance"? Oh, is that so? I ought to show him my family tree, where depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder rum rampant. And speaking as someone who has been living with both those disorders for a good part of my life and only saw an improvement in the last 3 years after--guess what!--I went on meds, I can say for a fact that "vitamin therapy and exercise" as a treatment is total bulls**t.
F***ing a**wipe.

I should've known, Forester. re: anyone see Cruise's meltdown on 'Today?'

Tom said that you can be Christian and be a Scientologist at the same time. Is that just a ploy to get people involved in Scientology and eventually forget about their original religion (if they have one) or is that true?

I guess the Scientologists must have given Tom a thesaurus. How else could he possibly know the word 'glib'?

I started this thread, because I was so stunned by his behavior with Lauer. Apparently, it's been quite the talk all day. A show biz pundit on Paula Zahn just reported that an apology to psychiatry may be overdue; 61% of those polled say they have worse impression of this narcissist.

I had lunch with a shrink friend, who didn't see TODAY, but saw the Oprah couch-bounce. When I told her how he spouted fire against psychiatry and psycotrophic drugs, she paused, then said "He's bipolar. And he's stopped taking his drugs."

She -- not a showbiz type, but practicing in Manhattan -- thinks the Oprah acting-out onward is one long manic episode, punctuated and fueled by his early mid-life career anxiety. (Have recent films really been blockbusters?)

She said Scientology has a history of ripping people off lithium and the like, and then leaving them stranded, with ol L. Ron's "philosophy" as the panacea as they white knuckle it and try to pick up the pieces. One side effect: increased sexual behavior and (temporary) grandiosity. She said watch for him to be admitted to a hospital in the next 3 months. Or more accurately, to take a long vacation to cover hospitalization.

Once again, I am late to the party and just now read the transcript. Just. Really. Wow. It always amazes me when actors, who have played intelligent characters and have convincingly spoken someone else's words, turn out to be stupid.

And, as Auggie already suggested, the overwhelming pomposity of his assertions, and his grandiose belief that he knows better than everyone else, is also very symptomatic of a definable clinical psychiatric pathology.

Ironic, isn't it?

I had to change the channel before he got to talking about depression because I knew it would get me to worked up. Ignorant people like him make me so angry, he has no right to comment on depression or any pschological disorders. I am clinically depressed and have OCD, it is a chemical imbalance. He has absolutley no right to comment on it the way he does if he is not a professional or has experienced it. I'm sorry but it's obviously a really close issue for me. I did not go to the hospital for OCD related panick attacks or start mild self injury because my body is functioning properly. I'm sorry if I'm sharing too much, I just get really worked up.

I don't actually know what it is he has to say about ritalin but it is definatley a drug that screwed my brother over so I can't argue too much about that but different things work for different people. Medications are not a joke and I hate people who think that are. I'm on prozac and everntually I will get off of it by taking other vitamins and supplements but ugh. People like him make me sick.

I utterly abhor Tom. What a condescending bastard. And how many times is he going to say he's "passionate about life.?" Keep on talkin Tom, you are just digging yourself in deeper.

ever since he first came out against Brooke I've loathed him. Now I just have more reason too. Brooke is going come out of this on top. I think any rational person will see that Tom has no clue what he's talking about. And from the interview he does seem nuts, like there's something not quite right up in the ol' noggin.

I read in Ent. Weekly were Tom quotes 2 sources to back up his views on drugs and the magazine in parantheses said (Dr. bla bla of New York bla bla says this is not true) and then (This has been proven to be a myth.) Hahhaha was I laughing.

I will never ever see a movie of his again. And I already decided weeks ago not to see his new one. No way will I be putting money/prestige in his pocket.

And let's hope no one tells him to shut up! As I said lets just sit back and watch him unravel.

Prick, somebody needs to tear him a new one. (Ah but I'm sure he would love that.)

No, babygiraffe...you didn't share too much. People who buy into their own star status and think it empowers them with wisdom and intelligence many of us crazed. The unmitigated gall of Mr. Cruise has my blood pressure hitting triple digits, too.

I'd be the first person to admit that all drug therapy is not good or effective, but when it's not, it is usually due to faulty or careless prescribing and management by the practitioner. A good drug has to be managed well in order to be effective. And a good doctor will know when it's the wrong medication for an individual. But to make sweeping statement about there being no such thing as a chemical imbalance, or post-partum depression and to label all of psychiatric medicine as quackery, is unconscienable.

I am eagerly awaiting Tommy's BIG grande finale meltdoen, cuz it's comin' soon. And I hope it happens VERY publicly.

People of the world! Join hands! Start a loathe train. Loathe train!

It's never too late to join the Cruise Despise Express. I've hated him FOR YEARS. When everybody was all, "Oh Jerry Maguire, really good," I was all, "Scientologist, no thanks." Basically talentless, another screen actor who wouldn't be able to act on stage to save his life. His entire career is smoke and mirrors and that stupid Risky Business smile.

There's two or three things I know about for sure, and one of em is cults.

DGrant, the compare and contrast is disturbing, but not surprising if you know how that "religion" works.

I can barely tolerate Kirstie Alley, abhor Travolta (although the vision of young Johnnie getting porked by porn star Paul Baressi is too delish), was delighted that Jenna Elfman was out of Sweet Charity.
