Here's a six degrees thing: I used to work with a young woman whose grandmother (I think) married Alton Brown's father, so he was sort of a step-great uncle to her. :) She went to their wedding.

I watch hours of Tivoed Food Network shows. I do a lot of entertaining and Sandra Lee's Home-made recipes are pretty great. Most of my friends are foodies and snobbish about food/drink it's pretty cool what you can get away with.
I also like Barefoot Contessa, I like the care she takes cooking. Paula Deen is also fun to watch, but I've seen her put butter in Spaghetti and meatballs.

It's much easier to say who I actually LIKE:
Paula Dean is pretty good, and Emeril still's got it.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE TYLER! Yum on all fronts!

Holy revived thread, batman!
Rachael Ray is pretty much the opposite of sexy. Giada...not so mad. I think Alson Brown is incredibly sexy, in a nerdy, quirky way.

I actually like Rachael Ray.
I can't stand Emeril or Bobby Flay, though, for the same reasons previously posted.
I love Food Network. :]
It was awesome. - theaterkid1015

Tyler is cute, but I think Dave Lieberman is REALLY attractive. Yum!

Posted: 9/20/06 at 11:31pmI think Tyler and Dave are cute,, but the have like lisps or speech impediments. I would much rather hang out with Sandra Lee though she doesn't seem the queer peer type. Paula would be awesome any day of the week. Can't wait for her new show. That one boy of hers is still single hmmmm...

I used to watch the Food Network Channel all the time! Talk about Sat. night activity...
Anyone remember Sara Moulton? She's not on anymore, is she?
As for the haters of Rachel Ray. Her 30 minute meals are more annoying than her 40$/day...which I kinda like. Her voice gets a bit...raspy though.
I kind of like Marc Summers. He is cute in a weird way. I guess it's more of the show "unwrapped" that I like though.
There was another show...I can't remember the name. It had a man and a women and they were traveling all over the world or something...I want to say the man was Marc Summers but I don't think so now..
Anyone remember Two Hot Tamales. That hasn't been on in ages but I loved them!!
Two fat ladies were quite interesting. They used so much molasses...and sugar. Uh.
I hate Iron Chef. And they say "Ion Chef!!" That's the only part that is slightly amusing.
Emeril used to be my favorite. I never watch him anymore. When I was like 12, I met him in NJ. My aunt's neighbor owned a kitchen type store so he was there to sell his book.

Gee, if IHeart called Ina a HIPPO, imagine what she'd call them.
I like Rachel Ray, but she's being way overexposed. I've gotten many excellent recipes from Ina and love her show (anyone know if she has new ones on yet?). Tyler Florence has also provided me with some good recipes, including the easiest and best lemon blueberry scone recipe. Alton Brown reminds me of the anal retentive chef on SNL, and the attempts at humor on his show make me cringe. Wolfgang Puck is probably the best chef of them all, but really sucks as a television personality. Also enjoy Paula's shows and some of her recipes and Giada's have also been enjoyable. Emeril's attempts at humor on his show..like his seasoned flour "joke"?.. fall flat, and his co-dependent relationship with his audience is bizarre, but some of his recipes too have been quite good. Now as for Sandra Lee, we've also noticed her lets say..fascination..with alcohol. If you want humor in a cooking show...her show is IT..She always is making these cocktails with like a dash of juice and this huge amount of liquor, and her recipes are absolutely ludicrous. Yes Im addicted to the food channel.

Sara is still on, she is kinda old school cooking show circa 80s. I don't really like Rachel, but I love her 30 minute format. I do not like the Food Network stars, they picked the wrong ones.
The network has come a long way in such a short time. I can't get enough.

Bumping this up for two reasons:
1. Where's the best place in Manhattan to get red velvet cake or cupcakes? I'm on an obsessive prowl right now.
2. Does anyone else find the Everyday Italian host to be extremely annoying? She has a typical American accent and is totally fine with me until she says something like ricotta and it becomes "ri-COD-ta" or "marsca-POHN-eh"...like okay, we get it, you're Italian. And trying too hard. Move on.

i accidentally pissed off a woman @ the thanksgiving party i went to, by criticizing rachel ray.
all i said was "you cant call what she does COOKING...you can call it PREPARING A MEAL, but you cant call it COOKING" & this woman really got upset!!! i didnt even think i was saying anything controversial!!!!

Posted: 11/28/06 at 9:57pmYeah, Giada makes me crazy with the way she says, "Feh-thooo-cheeeny!" lol She was born in Italy and her mother has a thick accent.
#223re: food Network Shows/Host I like
Posted: 11/28/06 at 9:59pmIt just drives me bonkers because she's got a total American accent and then the drawled out accent Italiaaaaano on some words is just jarring and gets stale quick!
