I guess my opinion on this subject should be taken very lightly as I have never actually seen a single episode of American Idol this season, however Melinda is my girl simply because she went to my alma mater. It's a small school so it is always horribly exciting when one of your 'own' so to say makes it.

And, besides, she just looks so darn nice.

Uh...for example?

We could use a singer like Melinda in the business. She's a throw back to someone like Aretha or Chaka. All talent.

i agree that, looking back at it, it's probably a blessing she didn't get caught in the AI machine that befalls the winner - she is so talented, she will definitely go far - it was just a shock b/c her songs were so much better than jordin's this past tuesday.

I was SHOCKED when she got voted off. She will definitely have a very good career though. I've thought almost all the contestants who didn't win, but deserved to get farther, usually turn out having a better career than who won the competition. Like bwaylvsong said, the biggest example of that would be Ruben and Clay, as well as JHud.

I was very upset by Melinda getting the boot. I somehow knew it would be her, not Blake or Jordin. Blake is the vote for the worst choice, he might just win. Atleast now I don't have to call. Plus the winner's never really do much career wise other than Kelly and Carrie. I know they all have records etc. but are rarely in the limelight.

I can't bring myself to watch the finale. I like Jordin, and she was always my 2nd favorite after Melinda. But, like last year, I just KNOW the one contestant I don't like is gonna win, and I'm gonna be annoyed that I watched and voted all season for that kind of result.

You know I've been pondering this for a bit. At first I was pretty angry but honestly this could be the best thing in the world for her. It gives her name notoriaty (as in, I can't believe SHE got kicked off idol!) which should sell more albums. Plus she won't get trapped up in the Idol winner and runner up contracts that own her soul, so she'll be free to persue different options and open herself musically.

I can't stand Blake, I don't think he's got that great a voice and his face ALWAYS looks the same! Has anyone else noticed that? There's never any expression on it!
