A friend of mine told me about the Penelopiad, and it sounds very interesting, a clever idea.

I thought it was. I usually like Margaret Atwood's books; reclothings of familiar stories fascinate me. One of my favorite poems (also by Margaret Atwood) is called, I believe, Siren Song; it's another work inspired by The Odyssey. There are so many fantastic characters in that story; so many perspecitives from which it may be told!
Hmm...maybe I should look up whether it's been told from the point of view of maybe Calypso, or the Lotus Eaters, or the gods, or the suitors...I think I feel some inspiration coming on!
The Lotus Eaters point of view might be interesting, but then again it risks being boring. Think of how many things pass through/by their lives, not just Odysseus. What would really make him that different, from their point of view, than anything else? That's just my belief, although if someone has written anything that defies that circumstance, I'd love to read.

Those are good things to think about; thanks, Gypsy!
Plus, the Lotus Eaters spent their days in basically a drug-induced haze (supposedly, the mythological lotus was based on the poppy - opium); one would have to take that into account.
Who knows, I might actually write something this summer. Well, something other than pointless BWW posts.

Hah, could they have waited any longer to put them up?
They've been up for a while - just not on a link in the headline section. I posted a few of them a couple of weeks ago when they came out.
I remember, I just didn't know where you got them from. *shrug*
They're in the BWW Photo Gallery thing
I guess the little write-up itself is new, though. They seem to still list Raul as being there....

I really have no recollection of that. O_O Wow...I usually remember those kind of things.
He's going to be at Broadway Under the Stars. Is this old news?

Nope. That was *just* announced. YAY.
*clears out memory on camera*
This is exciting. I wonder what he's going to sing.
I mean, he *could* sing Not While I'm Around, but I'm pretty sure people don't usually sing songs from the show they're in at this.
The songs can be from: A Little Night Music, Cabaret, Evita, Follies, Pacific Overtures, Parade, Sweeney Todd, The Phantom of the Opera, Candide, Show Boat, Damn Yankees, The Pajama Game, West Side Story and Fiddler on the Roof.
I'd be interested in him singing something from Evita, since we've talked about him as Che - I'd also like to hear his Maria from WSS. And I've been really curious about his Johanna since he originally auditioned for Anthony. Any of the above would be good
Something from Evita would be cool, and there would be no complaints from me if he sang a song from Cabaret.
Not While I'm Around would be alright, but I hope he does sing something different.
It'd be very cool to hear him sing Maria from WSS.
As long as it's not Maria from The Sound of Music.
I was actually thinking about him singing Johanna the other day. That would be really good too.
Aaaand, I'd also love to hear him sing I Don't Care Much. I can dream...

I love Sondheim, I do, but I'm so hoping for Evita. Or anything completely different.
Hee, Nun!Mano doesn't have quite the same ring to it.
Ooh, I'd love to hear his IDCM.
I would laugh really hard if he sang something from Evita. Especially since Raul won't be there this year.
Sorry.

Everyone is going to laugh at me, but I think hearing Mano sing "Two Lost Souls" (with a woman, obviously) from Damn Yankees would be really fun.
I do hope he does something that's NOT Not While I'm Around. He just needs to shake it up a little with the public appearances.
If I had my say, my vote would be for Maria from WSS.
I can't laugh at you because I'm not familiar with Damn Yankees.

Well, it's a pretty campy song (along with the whole show, I suppose), but it's fun! I can just imagine him singing it, strangely enough.
