Well, as of now, my "Didn't Hate" List is

Brokeback Mountain
King Kong
Capote
History of Violence
Kung Fu Hustle
Wallace & Gromit
Constant Gardener
March of the Penguins
Mysterious Skin

Seeing The Producers tonight and have yet to see Mrs Henderson Presents, Match Point, Munich and The Squid & The Whale (can't deal with that title)

i saw crash last nite. i liked it and it would probably make my top 10 but i don't really see why matt dillion was nominated for a golden globe. he was good but i don't think he did enough to warrant a nomination.

Maybe because he was good? When was the last time you could say that about Matt Dillon in a movie?

Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

he was good but i'm sure there were other more noteworthy supporting actor noms that should have been.

What I'm trying to say (not very well, I'll give you) is that Dillon's performance is noteworthy and nominated because it's so unexpected. I mean, when was the last time he was in a decent movie and being decent? Drugstore Cowboy? So yes, there are undoubtedly better performances out there but Dillon is getting some love for being back on form. For him.

i get that but even with the "welcome back, you were good in that role vote" i don't think he belongs.

lol Here's the thing: I admit, the first time I saw the movie, I hated it just as much as you. Trust me. However, upon seeing several times I picked up on numerous details and layers that made me appreciate the film that much more. It's an extremely well-made, intelligent, scary movie... after the second or third time. Updated On: 12/16/05 at 02:13 PM

And 86, why if you hated High Tension as much as Munk did, WHY did you watch it again? More than once?

10. Never Been Thawed
9. The Producers
8. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (guilty pleasure)
7. Pride and Prejudice
6. Grizzly Man
5. King Kong
4. Howl's Moving Castle
3. Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
2. Brokeback Mountain
1. Memoirs of a Geisha

I haven't seen Jarhead, Munich, Syriana or The Family Stone. I only liked #7 to 10, found the central subject of 6 more compelling than the documentary, and loved #1 through 5 for different reasons.

WHY did you watch it again?

Haven't you ever given a movie a second chance?

For the weeks after I saw it, something was really bugging me. I knew that there had to be more to the movie than just a twist. So, I rented it when it came out and, sure enough, I noticed things that I didn't before. As I said before, there are many details, clues, and nuances that I didn't pick up on before. It was a much richer, and more satisfying, movie the second time.

What the hell IS High Tension? A film about tightrope walkers or Dollypop when you mention Babs in Hello Dolly!?

It's a stupid horror movie that mistakes gore for scares and is completely undone by a retarded twist.

And of course I've given movies a second chance. All the ones I hated as much as High Tension, I still hate on second viewing.

I saw The Family Stone last night. Easily the WORST film I've seen all year.

I saw and enjoyed The Producers a lot. I laughed pretty much non-stop and thought it did a great job of capturing the stage show (though I thought "Along Came Bialy" should have been better and perhaps re-thought for film). The person I went with also loved it, as did a group of friends I ran into at the show. Not sure I understand all the negative reviews. Yes, it's broad and schticky and over the top and stagy -- well, so was the original movie. I thought that was the point. It's Mel Brooks -- it's not supposed to be subtle. If you don't like that style, fine, but the film is exactly what it was supposed to be -- and some will love it and some will hate it. Even though Stroman was behind the camera, it looks like Brooks' other films which many consider some of the greatest comedy films ever made.

It's not a masterpiece or anything, but it's a heck of a lot of fun and I'll be buying it on DVD. Not sure it'll make my top ten list for the year, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Whatever you say. I still think it's a great movie, and the twist makes perfect sense. If you think about it.

The movie was good and scary until the STUPID twist.

MEF: The WORST? REALLY? Did you see HIGH TENSION, BEWITCHED, LAND OF THE DEAD, or FANTASTIC FOUR? PLEASE, if you did, tell me it's better than them!

As far as craft is concerned, High Tension is miles above the other movies you mentioned.

I fail to see what's "stupid" about the twist. Question for those who hated the ending: Did you understand it? I don't mean to suggest that you guys are slow or anything, but when Roger Ebert reviewed the movie, it was quite obvious that he had the completely wrong idea of what happened.
