I thought this was going to be one of the child leashes they sell (which, I don't necessarily condone).
But, Wow.
Nothing surprises me anymore.
At least the silly bitch was arrested.
Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
SNAFU, I haven't laughed that hard in a while. Thank you. :)
My 8 yo son loves to pretend he's a dog. Maybe we should try this. Hmmm?
Oh.
My.
I just use those electric dog collars on my kids. Not quite as obvious as a leash.

"Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! "
That has to be one of the funniest responses I've ever read.
Was she bringing him in for a refund?
So it wasn't a child leash? It was a regular leash? That's horrible!
(the only time I would condone using a child leash - properly not dragging the kid of course - is if you have a small child and you are in a very crowded area, like a carnival)
Whoa-zie! I see kids on leashes very frequently here in NY but never saw them being dragged like that. It must smart.
While nothing justifies it, I would like to have the whole story. He could have autism and have the leash because he likes to run. He could have had a major behavior and just refuse to move. Again, there's no excuse, because at his size, the mother could have carried him, but there are lots of situations where an exhausted parent can make a really poor choice. I can tell you that putting a 13 year old's head through a wall occurred to me briefly on Friday and if you could see the bite mark on my forearm and the bruises all over my body, you might think it was justified.
My guess is, he was just having a major temper tantrum, but you're right, we really don't know the story.
Was there audio to that video? I don't get how that kid wasn't kicking or doing anything to being dragged like that. It makes me wonder if the mother would have noticed if something was medically wrong with the child at some point.
That video is disturbing. It's making me a little sick to my stomach.

I'm guessing the kid was pulling the I-refuse-to-move act.

I would have enjoyed it more if the kid had hit its head on the wall when she went to the other room, but it was pretty entertaining as it was.
I know, I know - I'll burn . . .
After seeing two children go on a rampage in an "Only-8" ice cram/candy store last week - screaming and opening two of the lucite drawers, spilling the entire contents (jelly beans and chocolate pretzels) on the floor while their ice-cream-cone-buying parents only mildly repremanded them with "Don't do that. Stop it." I don't think leashes are a particularly bad idea.
I had the response as Marianne. Not a even a muscle twitch of resistance from the kid.
Today's children need aggressive parenting like that. She is a beacon of innovation to modern parenting.
I do find it disturbing that the leash seemed to be around the boys neck.
Any other judgement is reserved until I hear the story behind it. If we ever do.
I hate the whole idea of the leash...official child ones included. If you cannot keep tabs on your child in public...don't go out. (And I'm sure there are circumstances of "runners" that don't fit this category).
Rugburns....OUCH!

I have no problem with a child harness, especially if you have a two-year-old who darts away from you and/or other children to supervise. The problem is not the harness. It's the parenting skills, or lack thereof. I would rather see a safe child in a harness than a kid whose shoulder is dislocated because "mom" pulls him a long by the hand.
I can't seem to get any audio with this clip (not that I necessarily want it), but I cannot think of any justification for doing what she did. If the child is out of control, no way this behavior by "mom" is going to help him learn what not to do. And the fact that she does what she does with no apparent embarrassment is chilling. Clearly she sees nothing wrong with it. The rest of this boy's family needs to intervene before he ends up stuffed in a suitcase.

If you look at the link about her arrest, it describes it as a "backpack leash" which I assume a leash that comes out of or attaches to a kid's backpack.
While I find the video kind of funny, I'm glad she was arrested. Apparently the kid got injured. It's very odd how the kid is so still...like she's walking her dead dog.
Just saw this story on Yahoo and thought the headline was very apropos.
