I think Amanda Peet, Brooke Shields, Patrick Wilson and some other actors should have been at the ceremony as presenters. They graced the stage this past year and they are hardly seen at the Tonys. Also Nathan Lane.
Given that Brooke Shields recently gave birth, I doubt she wants to go anywhere for the moment.
I'm just dying to know, where was IDINA?
Maria Friedman should have been nominated so she could have been there. Also, I would have loved to see Donna Murphy there.
While watching the Tonys a group of us were discussing just this. And we realized that you never see Stephen Sondheim at these things. You would think that he would have been asked to present...maybe he was, but I don't even know if he was present in the audience, let alone presenting. And then when the Sweeney director made his speech he spoke of Sondheim as if he were dead. It's just interesting to think about...he's such a living legend.

They would've zoomed over to Sondheim in the audience if he was attending.
I'm all for John Lithgow. Any reason why he wasn't there?
He was there last year, he wasn't on Broadway this past season.
Sondheim is extermely shy. Don't get me wrong, he is very very nice, but also very humble and he does NOT like the limelight.
Hal Prince.

Hugh Jackman. I know, I know, but I can't help it. I really wanted to see him present at least one award.
Vivian Nixon
Nathan Lane
Maria Friedman
(Off subject, but did anyone else think that Glenn Close looked wonderful!)
Yes, Ms. Close looked classy & sexy as anything. Very nice.
Sondheim. Was he there or not?
Oh yeah, Liza's Tony memory shouldn't have featured a clip of Halston who was the man who led her into the world of Studio 54. How about Kander and Ebb? They should have at least been mentioned.

Mandy Patinkin should have been there. I mean other than being represented in a cholesterol commercial.
Angela Lansbury
Haha, Hal Prince should have been there. Im sure he can afford to take a day off and he doesn't need permission from a boss to leave Vegas.
I'm so glad Janis Paige was there...she looked great! Would have loved to see Angela too.
Stritch, Patricia Morrison, Angela Landsbury, Bea Arthur, Ann Reinking (Chicago's Roxie), Ben Gazzara, Carol Channing, Michael Crawford espicially because of Phantom's record breaking year, Betty Buckley, John Lithgow, Donna McKenzie, Mandy Patikin, Ben Vereen.
I know I mispelled names, but bear with me. Also I loved the Joanna Gleason ad-lib about him being half crazy. That made my day.
Lithgow was indeed on Broadway this season.
Sondheim is like Harper Lee, just not as bad.
Yes Hal Prince and Angela. I would have liked to see Sondheim there too.

Isn't she getting ready for her turn as Elphaba in the West End?
