Did you write this on spec for The Onion?
It's "My high school music group and I"
I read up to "screenplay" and then I stopped.
And while you are entitled to like or dislike any show, you should at least make sure that you understand how theater (or even storytelling works. Just sayin'.
BTW.....I took my own group of HS kids, around the same time, and many of them loved it.

I see you joined today just to post this diatribe. I suggest that you withdraw for a while and gain some perspective. And it's a script, not a screenplay.
It's not that some of your opinions lack merit or aren't interesting takes. And I understand that you're still in high school. But it's theater, where not everything can take place in real time. So go to college and study playwriting and maybe you'll win a Tony some day for a screenplay. I mean a book.

Also, the show is older than you, and while it has its problems, I don't think you're the one to solve them.

It might help to watch the documentary LAST DAYS IN VIETNAM (on Netflix), for some context, before recruiting Michael Bay to direct your rewrite.

Disregarding the baffling OP, I will say that I think I agree with the subject. I get that the spectacle is impressive but I cannot believe there is another production of this offensive, sexist, racist crap.
Capital letters scare me.
Screenplay.
Moron.
I also stopped reading after that word.
Moron.

I think it's very important for the story to start with the Engineer and the girls.
I also think your "version" is a rambling rant of a highschool kid who has played too many computer games.
Ok, but are we all just going to act like Miss Saigon isn't super problematic? I enjoyed it, but it definitely has some problems with it's writing. I get that the OP wasn't necessarily the most eloquent in their analysis of the show, but can we not act like they're a troll just because they share a different opinion.
I take it you didn't read his battle scene recreations for the stage?
Matt I did, but... idk... this thread is really weird... I'm just going to leave. Ya'll have fun.

These are the same reasons I can't stand The Sound of Music. It's set pre-WWII yet it starts with some woman spinning in the mountains?!! It should start with the Nazi's marching in the boulevards of Austria. Who sings about favorite things when Ole Adolf is taking over your country? That's just not historically accurate!
I think they were joking honey.........
^I'm probably old enough to be your grandmother.... honey.
