I won't argue with Highland Guy that the comment was ageist.
But when so many boomers and elderly baste themselves in a stew of Right Wing propaganda and lies on Fox "news" and Facebook day after day, they become deeply ignorant and not deserving of respect that we might traditionally give our elders.
Obviously, there are wonderful and knowledgeable people over sixty, and I appreciate them.

To be fair, for those of us who have been around here a while, and still have our mental faculties, Roxy's mental foundation (as presented here: I have always harbored the notion that it is all just a pose, feeding some pathology I don't really understand) was not exactly on terra firma long before the current pandemic or even what we might call the foxnews-triggered crisis of the American right. In fact, it had nothing to do with politics (and curiously it seemed to come from left field not right in those days). So this current nonsense/entertainment from it (we have no way, at this point, of even knowing who is posting this embarrassing stuff) is (if we choose to believe its seriousnesss) standing on a bed of quicksand. (Maybe it is all just a cry for help.)

It is "fair" to challenge the comments we make in these threads. It is not "fair" to make ageist comments about other contributors. It is not "fair" to question a contributor's "mental foundation".

You apparently have not been here long, so you can be forgiven if you lack a full understanding of the etiology of Roxy's shtick here. And as I make clear above, that's what I think it is. I am fairly convinced that he (and the aforementioned After Eight) are posturing trolls and I think the "mental foundation" is a work of fiction. My comments are based only on what appears on this board; I have no more insight into this poseur's psyche than its posts reveal. And that, even by your standard, is fair game. Writing about what someone's writing suggests about their mental faculties and defects is a most respectable undertaking.
I am not here to defend ageism. I would point out however that I think there is a very good chance that Roxy started here as a teenager who couldn't get a date and has built its "persona" on that foundation. And Mrs Roxy? I think she is more closely related to Mr Albee's "babies" than to Mr Roxy.
I appreciate your instincts here, but in this case I think there is more involved than you can likely imagine.

There is an underlying message in "Jorge's" comment that is easy to discern. Those in Mr. Roxy's age group (whatever that might be) and mine (early 70's) will soon be dead......and that is a good thing. That knowledge makes "Jorge" thankful. Disgusting.
And yet, BWW allows the comment to stand.

It is always interesting to see what BWW finds offensive, obviously not hatred of older people.

You know what I find funny, that all these boomers that you seem to dislike were probably fairy liberal when they were your age. Wonder why they changed ? -lol

People tend to get conservative as they get older (do you disagree?) but that is not always the case. The FB friends I have that I went to HS with many years ago are probably 60-70% liberal. Most of my other friends are more moderate lean right. My side of the family not counting my daughters are fairly conservative while my in-laws are pretty liberal.

Notice how few people are calling "Jorge" out on his comments. I thought the Broadway community was supposedly so loving and willing to accept diverse opinions. Just imagine if you made statement that you wished death on some group of people and the reaction it would get from people who posted on this thread.

You know...in the bigger scheme of things...WHO CARES. If you don't like a particular poster or his/her comments, here's a suggestion...DON'T READ THEM. Skip it. There are plenty comments on here, on a daily basis, that I skip right through, because I detest the poster. It is obvious that some of you, enjoy, cherish, and live for the trashing of the individual more so then the comments that were actually posted. That says more about you then the person you so strongly want to bring down, tear apart or in at least in one instance, can't wait for him to die. Really sad and shameful.

I think some people tend to get (or at least lean) more conservative, mostly for economic reasons, but I also think that the labels have become muddled. I know a lot of relatively conservative people who have not signed onto the current state of affairs on the right and who bristled at what has happened to the right.I don't really want to go down that path here, but let's just focus on the Roxy nonsense. I think there are many conservatives who don't find anything conservative about the idea of opening the floodgates to this virus and creating unsafe situations like the Thanksgiving parade in its traditional form. That's just absurd. (And to get this back to theatre, so would be opening up theatres to non-socially distanced seating etc)
Re your other post and ageism, I think I did say that I was not defending ageism (or any other ism) but I also said and believe that Roxy is a fake and a poseur and may well be a work of fiction. He certainly acts like an adolescent with issues who tries to yank people's chains for sport. I am not a fan of posturing trolls and we have a few here. But in any case what Jorge wrote is abhorrent.
ETA: do you disagree about the parade?
