Hello everyone, I will be visiting NY in august, and with your help I have booked the following shows....
Gypsy
In The Heights
Lion King
Spring Awakening
South Pacific
I might have time to see one more show when in NY,except it will probably have to be one that I can pick up cheap tkts for when I get there.
I was thinking of one of the following:
Avenue Q
Young Frankenstein
Tale of Two Cities
Which would be the best that I could get tkts for there?
I probably won't be visiting NY again till next summer, so which one should I see that will probably be closed by then?
I have already seen Jersey Boys, Wicked, Rent, Hairspray, Mammia Mia, Phantom & Chicago (through bway and national tours)
Thanks in advance.
I would say Young Frankenstein as first choice and then Avenue Q as second choice. Have a wonderful trip!
Avenue Q! Although, as a second choice, Young Frankenstein.
Great line up of shows, wow.
I second to what broadwayfan7 said. The Young Frankenstein lottery is very easy - nothing beats seeing a show from the front row for 25 bucks. Second choice would be Ave Q, which also has a lottery, discounts online, and at TKTS.
AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY
AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY
Yeah, see it twice!
double post much
I was going to say YF because OBC will still be there but it's august so they won't - and the Ave Q cast right now is FANTASTIC.
so,
Avenue Q.

I'd say Avenue Q cause I know Sutton wont be in YF anymore and not sure about anyone else. But both are wonderful shows. Great line up!

Doesn't fit your criteria, but see Avenue Q!

I hate to say this because I don't like seeing shows close, but if you want to see something that probably won't be around by next year, go see Young Frankenstein.
Also, there is this great show called Passing Strange...

depending on when in august you're going..
and if you've never seen it before.. go see A Chorus Line.
just such a wonderful experience.
PASSING STRANGE, that dangerous, dark and LIGHT!!!!! un-musical THAT CAN!!! (Stealing from you, Cubby.)
Bravery, fortitude, guts, intelligence---that's the requirements to be admitted. Jump off the cliff!
Young Frankenstien
I'd go with Avenue Q. But regardless of what you end up picking, have fun!
Sorry, double post. xD
LOL Avenue Q I saw at 13! xD I've only seen Avenue Q, which I can recommend strongly, but if you can't get in, then see Young Frankenstein. Of those three anyways, those are the better I'm guessing. Haven't heard anything about Tale of Two Cities. Could be flop of the year! Wouldn't wanna miss that. Might also be fantastic. It's a bit of a risky choice.

from your choices, I would go with Avenue Q. Amazing, amazing show. Haha.
Young Frankenstein, if you happen to win lotto, may be a fun thing to catch, just for laughs.

IMO, probably YF.
What about The 39 Steps?
It depends what you enjoy most about musicals.
YF has spectacular sets, a great cast (currently at least), excellent choreography and a very funny script.
AQ has a simple set, a small cast (some of whom are excellent and some of whom are ok) and a very witty script.
I saw both of them in May and absolutely loved YF. I also enjoyed AQ but YF is the one I would see again if I could. I paid $120 for YF and got center seats 4 rows from the stage.
My AQ ticket was $70 for center 7 rows back. This was too far back I felt for this show.
