Wow, I've never even heard of "Chronicle of a Death Foretold" or "Swinging on a Star."

Snubbed that year for nominations: Big, Victor/Victoria, and State Fair. Any one of the three would have been preferable to the slight revue that was Swinging on a Star, but nothing had a shot at beating Rent.

BIG??

Absolutely not. Such a wreck.

I saw that **** and it was awful!

The BIG score eventually grew on me (as a guilty pleasure, next to the AIDA score) but the show itself is terrible!

When you see the only way to transition him from a child to an adult is by the company singing "your wish is granted!", you know the show is bad. I mean honestly, why?

Oh.

Is that the community theatre that travtrev2 and MusicalTheatreFan3 are a part of?

I actually had a good time at Big. With 12 more years of life under my belt I realize now it's not a very good show, but seriously, Swinging on a Star?

re: 1996 Tonys and Rent

I still think that Big is one of the greatest musicals ever written. Of course I am biased because it was my first show and is the show that got me into becoming a musical theatre fan.

But, honestly. I thought that Big got the nom for best musicals because I remember it performed at the Tonys.

I would never trust you to babysit my children.
