Nice and since it is three months away, it's high time they did promote it.

Honestly, as succinct as Kelli's synopsis was, who doesn't know the story of THE KING AND I? You'd have be living under a rock for sixty-five years.

Gotta get out of that bubble, jv. It might seem that way to us, but as wonderful as it is, The King and I film is not as beloved a property as say R&H's Sound of Music. And as many people have seen King & I on film, on Broadway and in regional theatre, there are probably 10 times as many who never have.

This will be amazing… Although I don't think Kelli will land the Tony in this role!

Ken Watanabe seems absolutely the right guy for the job. The first guy who can actually sell the fractured English that is in the script since that's actually how he speaks. The two of them seem so right for their parts. Can't wait.

"Although I don't think Kelli will land the Tony in this role!"

That shouldn't be like her main priority for this production. Maybe she'll win, maybe she won't? At this point, who knows? We'll just have to wait until the show opens and see how all the competition stacks up...

How about we wait until the show actually opens before the Tony talk?

Agreed on Ken Watanabe. There's also a warmth about him that will serve the character well.

Agreed, it IS fun to speculate, but only when there is something to speculate about. There wasn't any dialogue or even a single note sung in that clip. I am beyond excited about this show, but talking about nominations is a bit premature.

Yeah, you're right but my comment was more in relation to the role rather than the performance (which we havent seen even a glimpse of). I dont think the role of Annie will give Kelli enough to play with to get her the Tony. I wouldn't be suprised with a nomination but would be surprised for the win. Lets see if I change my mind when more promotion starts and videos start to be relased!
Keggss23 - I'll be relying on the die hard New Yorkers to give me a lowdown of the performance as I doubt I will be able to make a trip to NYC next year! 1st The King and I Promo Video

^Considering the role has won two other actresses the Tony, I think Kelli will have plenty "to play with."

Annie?!! Annie?!! The role Kelli O'Hara is playing is ANNA not Annie.

I am not as familiar with Kelli as some of you on here (but I watched a few videos on youtube and I think she has a lovely voice) but I do think Ken Watanabe was an inspired casting choice. I am really looking forward to his portrayal of the king.

King and I has been one of my favorite musicals since I was a child. I loved the Yul Brynner & Deborah Kerr film and have seen it countless times.

I also saw it once live in Phila at the Walnut Street theater and really enjoyed that.

So yeah I am looking forward to seeing this in NY. It may not be as well known as the Sound of Music but while I enjoy that one too, King and I is the one I love more.

Rachel York is starring in the King and I in Dallas (and going presumably on tour??). I'm surprised that this is an entirely different production than the NYC version...that kind of thing doesn't happen very often, does it?

Well the new revival is going to be an exclusive world premiere production. It would make no sense to tour it right away.

I still can't get over how they released a promo video that didn't have any music in it!! What undecided ticket buyers would be convinced by interviews about the characters? You sell tickets with music!

I just got that in an e-mail. I saw her as Reno Sweeny in 'Aything Goes' and she was fantastic. Plus, she was also very sweet at the stage door.
