2010 Drama League Nominations Announced!

I think Angela has a great shot, but to say she has it in the bag is naïve. Doug Hodge got nothing shy of across the board RAVE reviews in a huge iconic role. Angela totally deserves it too, but don't be surprised if Hodge wins it.

^ While I agree that we cannot count out Hodge yet, Angela did get just as big of raves. Brantley basically wrote her a big love letter.

I agree, but her part is also much smaller. And Hodge making such a splash in his Broadway debut works to his advantage the same way that Angela's incredible resume works to hers. I'm not saying Angela WON'T win. I just don't think one can say "she has it in the bag." I won't be at all surprised if she wins. But I honestly think it's 50/50.

bjh, that's a good point you make about the size of her role. Since I was incorrect about Liev Schreiber, has anyone won a Drama League Award for a featured role?

I think this is just one big clusterf@#k though.

When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain. -Kad

Liev Schreiber was leading in Talk Radio. He won a featured Tony for Glengarry Glen Ross, but his Talk Radio role which won him the Drama League Award was leading.

ack, thank you! I only did a quick check on the wiki and obviously didn't read it correctly.

what i don't understand is why all the featured and lead roles are put into one category. i'm all for putting the male and female roles together but, leading and featured? seems like it would be easier to just dole out 2 awards instead of having almost 60 people in one category.

The Miracle Worker was robbed almost entirely. Its my pick for revival of a play, best actress in a play for Alison Pill and best featured actress in a play for Abigail Breslin.
BOO.
I wouldn't complain if John Gallagher, Jr. walked away with the performance award, however. I hope he wins the Tony. American Idiot is pretty decent, but he is fantastic.
