A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
To clarify, I LIKED the Scottsboro performance. But my mind wasn't blown in the same way that I would rave about it the same way people here have. I do hope the tour goes to San Antonio, TX.
Maybe I was too hysterical last time he won because that was the year LuPone won for Gypsy and didn't pay attention to the meaning behind his bizarre poetry jams, but why does he read off these bizarre things when he makes a speech? Just curious.
I would like to know what Mc Dormand was on. Nice that she really dressed for the awards & really loved what she did with her hair.Whoopi was Whoopi but she looked like a bag lady
Was bummed that Scottsboro got overlooked. Giving the score to Kander would have been a fitting tribute to K/E last score.Shocked Benati did not win & the Bumblebee did. Glad to see Butz get it & hope this helps Catch Me at the box office.
I loved Leguizamo & Rock's bit at the end was great as well. The theater looked great and it is really was better than I remember it as I have not been in it for quite awhile.
Harris should host it every year & it is like a mercedes next to the Oscars which is a Hugo every year.Like the joke Bono did about the post.
I can only imagine what Book of Mormon's advance will be now that they've officially won the Tony. They're nearly sold-out through the summer and the casual theater-goer likely has no clue that it'll be impossible to land a ticket. I wouldn't be suprised if this show recoups in the next few weeks.

Still a half hour of the show to go here in CA. So far, the hightlights: H2S (very impressed with Radcliffe), BOM (Rannells was awesome), and CMIYC numbers. Disappointed in AG - while hugely talented, Sutton was puppet-like - absolutely no spark. Clearly, my opinion is of no import, as she has won the Tony - but, I don't get it from that performance. An aside: Was it just me, but did Harry Connick, Jr. look like a young Robert Morse??? One of the best lines of the night: "Everything in here, Ikea." And I continue to love Hugh Jackman...
Things to look for because of the Tony telecast: -The return of the jean jacket-thanks Frannie -The return of the headband-thanks Al -The return of the floor length/schmatta look-thanks Larry -The backlash at Chris Rock as presenter of Best Musical????-WTF! -The Mormon producers kicking themselves for not putting Gad in the Supporting category -The Spidey producers regretting picking that pretty but dull song to represent them -The low grosses for the Company movie-the number sucked big time(why were his girlfriends in Side by Side?- It's about being coupled and Bobby being alone) -Barbara and Sherri, on The View, lamenting Sister Act's shutout to Whoopi, who will still say how utterly talented Patina is -The end of all musical numbers from Priscilla on television-PLEASE -The end of the same Memphis number on future Tony shows -Bobby and Sutton breaking up cause she won and he didn't -The return of Hugh Jackman as host- utterly charming-NPH was good but enough of him. Their number was terrific-noticed Hugh had to hold his knees for support in the Chorus Line section-not easy to do even for a 20 year old -Another musical from the Mormon creators -Next year's show will be 2 hours -Rob Ashford will give Ricky Martin acrobatics to do in Evita revival -The demise of Catch Me
Questions?- Why did they give Christy Brinkley the night off from Chicago to do an introduction? -Why were Joanna Lumley and Al P's wife applauding so lamely
Had fun watching though the venue didn't have the excitement of Radio City. Show was as gay as ever.
While I did like the Anything Goes performance, I can't help wishing that they did "Blow, Gabriel, Blow" instead. Also, I wanted a shot of Patti while Sutton was performing.
Best number for me was the Hugh Jackman and NPH bit!
Found myself texting away during the Scottsboro Boys number and wondering if those pieces of plywood ever snapped with them bouncing on it.
LOVED seeing the awards at the Beacon Theater. Actually looks like a theater I'd see a Broadway show in unlike Radio City Music Hall. Bigger isn't always better.
I just got back from celebrating the Dallas Mavericks's win at the NBA finals. Here are some of my thoughts on tonight's award show:
Many people thought Laura Benanti had it in the bag, but I didn't think she did. I remember when Hayden Gwenye won the Outer Critics circle Award and Drama Desk Award in 2009 but lost the Tony to Karen Olivo. Olivo's performance was more acclaimed than Gwenye. I had a feeling that something like that might happen again tonight. I am happy that Norbert and Sutton won their second Tonys. They are two of my favorite theatre actors and I am so pleased to see them continue to achieve many things in their careers.
I guess most people here were underestimating the effect of not having critics as voters. I was more surprised that Joe Mantello didn't win. He did help create Wicked which is one of the biggest money-makers on Broadway right now. And his acting was superb.
And if Joe Mantello won, that would've been an upset. The smart money was on Mark Rylance. He got tons of raves, and the New York Drama Critics Circle gave him a Special Citation. He also won Best Actor from the Outer Critics, and it's possible that Tony voters were wowed that he did 2 Broadway shows this year.
Maybe I missed something, maybe I am out of the loop, maybe I am just not cool enough, but what was Mr. Rylance's acceptance speech about? Or is he just nuts? Updated On: 6/13/11 at 02:01 AM
I kinda want to tell Rylance to suck it after that obtuse performance piece of an acceptance speech, but since I'd actually like to make out with him I guess I'll ignore it.
Mark Rylance recited a poem by Louis Jenkins, the same poet whose work he used in his last acceptance speech. It's POETRY. Which, I suppose, is why some people don't understand it. And that's a pity.

Nikki M. James's performance was more well-received by critcs and theatergoers than Benanti's performance/
I don't think that's true. Mr. Brantley himself said that Benanti "should and will win" the Tony. It was an acclaimed performance, regardless of the show's reception.
Why did'nt Book of Mormon perform their opening number instead of "I Believe"? The opening number for BOM was fun and a great hook into the show. What a disappointment for the viewers and a missed opportunity for the show.
Some of y'all are so cynical. I was excited to see the thing I love being spotlighted and celebrated for three hours regardless of execution. I guess I'm just naive, sure some things could have gone better and it was fairly predictable, but I enjoyed watching it. Not once was I thinking "God this sucks" it's fun to watch whether it's a train wreck or a masterpiece.
You know, that's what bugs me about Anything Goes. It's "puppet like." The whole show seemed mechanical to me. Amazingly performed, but not very soulful.
Am a Sutton fan. I didn't like her dress at all. Disappointed that Andrew Rannells didn't win and his performance was imho the best of the night, but overall glad for Mormon. Nikki over Laura--wow, unexpected, and great. Warhorse, great production, weak script. Catch Me If You Can--no thanks, I won't be. NPH--a great host, HJ--talented, but not my favorite performer.
