Don't forget that Jack took on Macbeth with Ethan Hawk a few years ago, and we all saw how that turned out.

I'm still slightly upset they didn't take the Chicago Lyric Opera production to Broadway. It was absolutely beautiful. And Stephen Pasquale stopped the show with his Soliloquy. Not that I'm not excited for Joshua Henry's interpretation.

He won all three of those Tonys before his current streak began with Impressionism back in 2009. In fact, I will say in his defense that I did really like his Sound of Music tour, though I am aware that not a lot of people on these boards were the biggest fans of that production.

Overall, I'm not expecting this upcoming production of Carousel to fail, it's just more of a question mark to me at this point.

So who else is enjoying all the moving banner and side-bar ads for Carousel? I love the Cleon Peterson artwork and am excited for this show.

Absolutely love the artwork. It’s probably the best artwork of the new season

Anyone here other than myself around in 1977 to witness his thrilling production of Porgy and Bess?
I think it's accurate to say that the man is an occasional genius.

Of course, that was over 40 years ago. Whether Jack still has that talent in him or not, we shall find out next month.

Does anyone know when press day will be (assuming it's happening)? I'm dying to see something, ANYTHING, from this production.

I doubt there will be one since this is a Rudin show.

Yeah, since this is a Rudin production, expect for this to be a bit like Hello, Dolly! We probably won't see many pictures and we probably won't see any footage, even once the show has opened.

I’m so excited to see Jessie Mueller as Julie Jordan. Just imagining her singing If I Loved You sounds so blissful in my head.

Anyone know how well the show is selling? Hoping it succeeds.

I just bought tickets for a Monday night in early March and while there were certainly tickets left, I was surprised how many had been sold already. Anecdotal but that was my takeaway.

In between classes right now and going through some quick thoughts. If this show runs long enough for a second cast/replacements, these are the actors I’d love to see.
Julie: Betsy Wolfe
Carrie: Jessica Vosk
Billy: Brandon Victor Dixon
Enoch: Adam Kantor
Nettie: Audra McDonald

I doubt it will do as well as Hello, Dolly! (especially given how much excitement there already was for that production when Bette Midler was announced to star). While we'll have to wait and see how Joshua Henry does, I wonder if this production would've been an instant hit if Josh Groban or Jake Gyllenhaal were starring as Billy Bigelow.

Are the main leads scheduled to do all performances?

Any holiday dates booked in does anyone know? Around May/June I’m thinking

Agreed about Soliloquy, but the set on which it was performed was HIDEOUS. I hated that production so much, I couldn't wait for intermission to get the hell out of there. You liked the giant turds on stage for the no-bench "bench scene"? With the exception of Graves, the cast was great. Loved Graves in Carmen back in the day, but she was so cringeworthy in Carousel. And that Something Wicked This Way Comes prologue was awkwardly hilarious. It looked more like American Horror Story: Carousel. Ugh. So glad it didn't end up on Broadway. Bullet dodged.
