According to the Tony Awards website, both LOBBY HERO and THREE TALL WOMEN will be considered for Best Revival of a Play.

According to the New York Times, the nominator who missed 1984 during its Broadway run has actually recused himself from the committee, thus how the play is back in contention…

No, that was last year. As it was a limited run, it was announced that the producers opted out of the Tonys. Thus, it was not nominated (or considered) at all.

Unless Jose Antonio Vargas made a trip to TOFT and saw the recording (assuming there is one) in its entirety, or he has decided to abstain, I don't see why 1984 would be deemed eligible at this point.

and to be clear, going to TOFT would not be an acceptable alternative.

True, but for out-of-town voters who didn't see nominated shows that have already closed shop, isn't a less than desirable alternative better than no alternative at all?

No it is not. Those voters cannot vote. But also note that the issue here is a nominator not a voter anyway.

Does anybody know when the next (and final) ruling decisions will come out? Today is the cutoff date for season eligibility, so I imagine we’ll get the last announcement tomorrow...?
