Crossover appeal is a necessity for a host. (Erivo had WICKED, DeBose won her Oscar for WSS, James Corden had the late night show). Groffstill has relatively limited appeal outside of the theatre community - the average person does not necessarily know who he is, let alone would invest time to watch him host a theatre awards show.

He would be better suited to one of the other awards bodies, like the Drama Desks, where it’s basically the 54 Below version of the Tonys"



They've done multiply hosts before, pair him up someone. I'd question the idea Debose is a household name.

I hope so. The host was announced in mid-February in 2025, late March in 2024, and mid-April in 2023. So the timing can be all over the place, but we should know something by a month from now at the latest.
