Wow! I didn't notice there will be 4 upcoming productions of the Addams Family. One in Brazil,Australia,Pittsburgh and a National Tour. Surprised there not going to London.
Pittsburgh is a stop on their National Tour.
Shocking they really plan to have these productions. I saw the show with Nathan, and it was awesome, but only because of him.
Other than that, the show is a train-wreck. It is on life support right now with Brooke Shields. Unless the show continues to bring in big names, it will eventually fail.
I loved the show :) I think its really good :)
I guessed that! ^^ :P
I'm also surprised it hasn't come to London.
I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. The music was mostly forgettable, as was Wednesday, but I found it surprisingly hilarious. And the set and costumes were very fitting and lovely. I could see it having a life beyond broadway.

Like stated above, Pittsburgh isn't getting its own production -- that is just a stop for the 1st Nat'l Tour.
My problem with the show is, they had such great material to work with and the best plot they could come up was a rip off of "You Can't Take It With You'. They even used the party game idea from that show.
So many possibilities they could have gone with and they just stole from another show - how disappointing.
Keep it away from the UK please
It really does amaze me how they so royally managed to f*ck this up and turn the musical into 2 1/2 hours of crap.
I agree with South FL Marc. They had a ton of material to draw from and what they produced was a mediocre show that took elements from La Cage Aux Folles, The Birdcage, and You Can't Take It With You. I think I would've preferred it if they would've just based the musical on the movie.

^^^^^This. With such good material to work with, there is no reason why this couldn't have been a 100 times better.

No Jordan. Don't hold back. Tell us how you really feel.
How do you do italics? I must be challenged.
Dave13 -- just one note on your original post, and apologies in advance if I'm reading this wrong, but when you say it's shocking that "they" plan to have these productions, I would just note that the Broadway producers may not have anything to do with the productions in Australia or Brazil.
I honestly don't know one way or the other, but foreign productions are often done in partnership with or entirely under the auspices of a local producer who raises a lot (and sometimes all) of the money and assumes most of the risk. It's not impossible that the Broadway producers are mounting these additional productions but I suspect, for any number of reasons (including the feelings expressed in this thread), that this is not the case and that the "they" in each instance is a different group of people, each of which feels that the show has legs in their country notwithstanding the negative reception it received on Broadway.
Apropos of the NYT article this past Sunday, it will also be interesting to see if they make changes for the upcoming national tour which, if received more favorably, would likely make their way into these other productions as well.

They are trying to bring it to the UK, but can't find the right theatre or backing.
