The CMA's are Wednesday night and the promos are saying "A special performance that will have everyone talking". Rumor is flying that "9 to 5" is performing the title song. Apparently country artist have been mentioning things at concerts lately.
Anyone heard this? If its true, DAMN Dolly's got connections!
I have two aunts who go to EVERY country artist concert that comes close to our town. At Sugarland they said "Watch the CMA's there is going to be one heck of a musical performance"
It makes total sense as business savvy as Dolly is. She has been so gracious and wonderful in promoting this show. By having the show perform the title number at the CMA's, it not only shows Dolly's devotion to her show...but also a sure-fire way to sell a heck of a lot of tickets. Country music fans are pretty much an un-tapped resource on Broadway that could pump a ton of money into this show and keep it running for a long time. (Kind of a no-brainer, but still well-played if the rumors are true.)
In 2001, Reba catapulted her career AND Broadway to new heights when she created magic replacing Bernadette Peters in the revival of ANNIE GET YOUR GUN.
If ever a personality and a role made a perfect fit -- that was it.
I'm well aware of Reba's run in Annie Get Your Gun, but thanks for informing me of it nonetheless. I was confused because I thought NGD was saying Reba was somehow involved with "9 to 5." LoL
As much as I would like to see 9 TO 5 perform, the fact that Nicole is presenting (with Hugh Jackman) would lead one to think she might be performing with her husband. And that would be a big performance too. Regardless...I think I may have to tune in for opening performance.
