for 5 years of mamma mia on bway they might as well not even showed up. there table was just SADDDD!!!
In the past they have had dome great things and this year was just aposter, apron, pin and a few piaces of jewlery!!!
the rest was fun. Producers was a nice little stop as well as rent
The Phantom table was awesome!
I got there really early and bought Christine's Il Muto shoes (which came with someone's white gloves and the "socks" Christine wears in Il Muto) and some pointe shoes!

I see Stephanie and Ann's signatures. Left side--Steph is towards the bottom, Ann is a little bit up.
Met Broadway Boobs & Mominator. I apologize to Mominator for not knowing her as I was given a key clue "cookies" & I still did not know
Mr Boobs looked awesome as I did not even recognize him. I saw Bob Martin, Harvey , JLY at the photo shoot. I was standing next to Richard Griffiths after he got out of a cab & he had a befuddled look about him. I spoke briefly to Marc Shaiman & asked him about a cast album for Fame & he said they were working on it
Bryan's minions were out in force giving out flyers re their lost cause of getting the Lestat CD released. I told them in the nicest way possible it was a lost cause
They were making a big announcement that Edward Albee was at a location & to go & meet him. The only problem is I saw him at that time ( not 2 minutes before ) having coffee at a Starbucks on 8 th Ave. What was sad was here was Americas greatest living playwright & no one at Starbucks seemed to notice him at all . I had walked back & forth a few times & he must have been sitting there for about a half hour with a blank expression on his face
By the way, Virgin was selling some Broadway CD'S dirt cheap. $ 10 each for Wicked & Beauty & The Beast. Got Tarzan & Grey Gardens both on sale ( $ 15.99 & $ 14.99 respectively). They are also sellinga Broadway calendar with the items for each month being old broadway posters. Looked neat
Looks like the big restaurant space next to Phantom is being reopened work is being done on it. Another new restaurant is opening @ 49 th & 7 th called Hawaiian Tropic. It looks great
This may have been my last year at the Flea market .With my feet acting up I did not have the stamina to do much walking & I had to rest a lot. If we are already in the city for a show & it is going on we might drop over in the future.
All in all, it looked great as the crowds were there despite the jewish holiday. After a brief rain, quite a number of tables closed up. It was overcast but cool & the weather cooperated as much as possible

Hawaiian Tropic like the sunscreen, is this like a Hooters theme?
I got there about Noon and the weather was iffy. I reviewed some of the tables and thought I would buy towards the end of the day and watch the action. Walked around, hung out near photo booth, got caught in the rain. After it stopped raining and the sun came out I went on a buying spree. First I bought a 2006 Tony bag to carry the loot, then I bought 2 Color Purple signed 16x20 cards - $20 each (Tomorrow Oprah is in town I hope to get them signed), then I bought a prop envelope from the show - A letter to Nellie from Ceilia was included, $20; a Spelling Bee 9 x 12 piece of wood signed by the entire cast and a playbill in the middle attached to the wood - $40; a Martin Short Playbill, $10; WICKED stuff - Signed photo $10 Ben Vereen in costume, Rue McCallahan, a HX Magazine with a story about Wicked's upcoming Debut on Broadway $1, 2 5x7 framed photos of Megan Hilty $5 each; People mag with Susan Lucci winning Emmy $5; lots of $1 playbills and 4 Sweet Charity paper binders $1 and a DRS T-Shirt for my boyfriend for $2.
I will be putting photos of the event on my website after 6PM
Confessions of A Celebrity Stalker
My favorite purchase today is a Bobblehead Cartoon Bee, that has a placard saying "Leaf Coneybear, Fourth Runner Up, Spelling Bee" and is signed by the 4 people who have played Leaf on Broadway- Jesse, Barrett, Todd, and Maurice. It is awesome!!!

Sounds like it was a great time!
Out of curiosity, did anyone who wrote to BC/EFA about it being on Rosh Hashanah get a response? (I didn't.)

from my understanding these things are booked years in advance and it also has to do with the city of NY becasue they have to close streets off as well. i dont know how true that is but it makes sense

What a great time! Many people there from broadway and bww. I spent about 60 on cds, cassettes, playbills, and the broadway yearbook for this year.

Alix, someone did write to them and did get a responce (I don't remember who)
I think basically it just said that they can't please everyone. They've had it planned knowing it was a Jewish Holiday but other dates had problems too and this fit the best within all dates/schedules.

Did anyone else find it a little odd that they were selling the doors from the Nederlander with the pictures of the cast? I mean I know it wasn't the ACTUALLY door but passing by my friend was like umm they have the DOORS. I just thought it was a little weird.

"I certainly took into account the dates of the Jewish holidays, as we do every year, since both Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur move from year to year .
After checking with several Jewish friends, the agreement was that avoiding Yom Kippur, as the most solemn Holiday on Monday, October 2 was a must. - with scheduling the Flea Market for even the day before Sunday, October 1 not a good idea.
Rosh Hashana begins, as you know, at sundown on Friday, the 22nd, and I was advised that only the most observant Jews (who would more than likely not attend the Flea Market in any event) would observe the full second day of Rosh Hashana, making Sunday, September 24th acceptable. I guess I didn't ask the right Jews.
Sunday, September 10th is out as that is BROADWAY ON BROADWAY and while it might seem an interesting idea to do both on the same day - so many people in Times Sqaure and all, logistically it would be a nightmare and the city would never allow us to close W.44th Street with all of the "bow-tie" also shut down to traffic. And as the 10th would be, the 17th is simply too early for us to get everything done that we have to do before the event.
The second dilemma was that the BC/EFA fiscal year ends on September 30th. The Flea Market has to be produced and booked before that day. October 1 beings FY 2006."
