I was in the balcony, so not close enough to see an earpiece. And there were no teleprompters visible on the stage, so unless they've got a big screen tv on the mezz, I'm not quite sure how they'd do that so that she could read it.
The earpiece thing could be possible, with someone (the mysterious Mary) just offstage to prompt if there's an issue with it.
I had an actual seat, and there were two empty seats next to me (in the mezzanine). I don't think there was a teleprompter or an earpiece, because I definitely heard a disembodied voice.
Angelplays is right- it was the scene about illusions. Stritch said something like, "Tell me about [whatever it was]", there was an awkward silence, after which Keaton began to say her line, then Stritch went, "No, no, let me tell YOU," or something like that, then the scene continued.
"Blow out the candles, Robert, and make a wish. Want something. Want something."
Someone claims on the "WEst end board" that Peters and Stritch will be recorded for a 6-track 'special edition' CD or something.
They also claim PS Classics will record La Cage?
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
I was at last night's show. First time I've seen any production of A Little Night Music and I'm glad I waited to see Bernadette Peters in the role. She was absolutely stunning. That pure voice just kills me every time :)
Elaine Stritch breaks your heart, she stumbles at times but when she's on, she's so fierce.
I had a literal "face palm" moment last night. A couple was sitting next to me, and when Bernadette Peters first appeared on stage to wild applause the husband leaned over to his wife and said excitedly "Oh! I like this actress! That's Madeline Kahn, RIGHT?"
I am seeing it tonight. Just got my tix from the TKTS booth. I'm so fricking excited right now its not even funny.

In Madame Armfeldt's first scene, is she supposed to call one of her liasons 'weird' right before she exits? Stritch did on Friday. It sounded like she made it up, but I'm not sure if she did or not.
Saw the show last night. It has already been said but Peters is AMAZING but Stritch is close to it. Stritch's second act was PERFECT, but her first act needs some character work (though her memorization seems to be good now, I only saw one small slip and I can't even remember where it was). She now knows all of Liaisons but last night she seemed to be concentrating on making sure she got all of the words instead of character (which at this point is a good thing). When she is on she is ON and I really like her take on the character, and once she can fit that characterization into the first act she will be great. She is part bitter and part sad and it works very well. I plan on returning in a few weeks if possible to see what changes she has made.
David walked into the valley
With a stone clutched in his hand
He was only a boy
But he knew someone must take a stand
There will always be a valley
Always mountains one must scale
There will always be perilous waters
Which someone must sail
-Into the Fire

A good friend of mine saw the show last night and was blown away by both Peters and Stritch. This girl is very tough on shows so I trust that if she was impressed, it was indeed a great performance. She is a huge Lansbury fan and actually preferred Stritch over Lansbury in the role so I think that is a huge compliment to Stritch.
Just saw the show last night. Ive seen it with both casts, and thought it was very different but still amazing. I did prefer Lansbury though Stritch gave a fine performance last night. But Bernadette really was made for this role as a lot of people say. It was also my first time seeing her on stage and it was truly an experience. I even got a picture with her after the show, which really made my day (or life)

Saw it last night. Bernadette is spectacular. Stritch is marvelous. Yes, she did stumble a bit, but overall, she was great and her "wooden ring" moment was very touching indeed.
I'm sure this has been ask, but my friend and I are going to be coming in from Philly to try and get rush tix during the Saturday matinee. How early would we have to be there?
1. There were still rush tix available right before curtain yesterday which made me feel sad about the $70 I had spent at the booth (so worth it no doubt about it though). but I'm sure the rush tickets are better the earlier you get there because they do have some side orchestra seating and ANY seat in the orchestra is good in this theater.
2. AdamGreer: I couldn't help but noticed you are standing in fron of Captain EO (formerly known as Honey I Shrunk the Audience)in EPCOT. I was a cast member there all of last year and worked exactly were u are standing. "It's a small world after all" lol.

When I rushed last Saturday I got there around 9 and there were 10 people in front of me, and only a few more showed up before the box office opened. If you want to get a close orchestra seat I'd say get there around 9. And the obstructed view isn't bad at all.
