I imagine he's signed until November like Peters and Stritch.

Actually, Hanson is up in October, not the same as Peters and Stritch. I heard Buntrock was doing the last month.
Stephen: "Could you grab me a coffee?"
Me: "Would you like that with all the colors of the wind?"

I'd be surprised if Hanson leaves this gig, but I haven't heard anything on the subject.

I was there! I got 6th row orchestra (far left) student rush seats at about 10:15 this morning. The orchestra seemed full, so I don't know how long tickets were available.
Anyway, the show was absolutely incredible, as usual! I didn't think it could get any better, but it did! Peters was phenomenal and Stritch was a revelation. I didn't notice any mistakes, and Stritch seemed confident and very comfortable on stage.
More tomorrow...

What time did the show let out tonight? Have they gotten it under 3 hours yet?

A close friend went last night (Thursday) and said it was a different show for the better. (He saw Lansbury and Jones) He was raving about it. He said "Liasons" was heartbreaking. Stritch was struggling with it a bit but it worked into the song/performance. He also said that Peters' "Send in the Clowns" was perfect.
I need to fly in to see this!

Nope, no accent.
The show started late and ended around 10:05, but there was a ton of time that was taken by applause, and intermission seemed longer than usual. I'd say the show is slightly under 3 hours.

I think it clocked in at just about 3 hours tonight. Probably started a couple minutes after 7. I looked at my cell phone and it was 10:08 but this was after a lengthy curtain call and I had probably been fighting the crowds to get out for a least a minute or two.
As reported Elaine seemed very confident tonight. I don't know the script by heart like many do but nothing seemed to be missing and no long pauses. And Bernadette was just overwelming during Clowns. She seemed to be crying so much tonight I wasn't sure she was going to be able to sing the song but of course she did just fine. Just heartbreaking. And why had I not noticed before what she does with the fan during her Countess speech? Very funny.

Spoil me- what does she do with the fan during the Countess speech?
"Your lyrics lack subtlety! You can't just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!"

I'd be surprised if Hanson leaves this gig, but I haven't heard anything on the subject.
Well, he's doing a play in London starting in November this year, so presumably he'll be leaving NY in October (or maybe even earlier) for rehearsals.

Glad to hear Stritch getting better word-of-mouth.

Sounds like this show will be in impeccable shape when I go to see it in two weeks. Does anybody know if any of the leads have any scheduled absences coming up for concerts, etc?

Hanson is announced for a thing in London in November, so I figure he has to leave in early October, latest.

Well tonight's performance was just extraordinary. Peters and Stritch are now both giving performances that are going to become as legendary as the performers themselves. They have elevated the entire company into something wonderful.
Miss this at your peril.
Btw - the show clocked in at 2:48 tonight. Tightest I've seen it.

Is Stritch now remembering the "Good God, you're right!" and "Squatting like Bohemians" lines?

OK, so now I'm REALLY excited about the prospects of seeing Saturday's matinee.

Yes Stritch had all her lines tonight and Liaisons was remarkable. She had one slight flub on her "Are you addressing me, whoever you are" exchange with the count but quickly corrected it. Everything else was perfect.
The biggest line flub tonight was actually Peters who was so overwhelmed emotionally during SEND IN THE CLOWNS she began the second section (after Frederick's speech) with "Isn't It Rich, Aren't We a Pair" - but quickly caught and corrected it.

Thanks so much for the report! I can't wait to see them again.
I wonder when they will announce Hanson's departure? I am very interested in seeing Buntrock's Fredrik.

Buntrock was actually on as Frid tonight - he looked so much like Hanson, I thought the audience was going to think he'd run off with Petra in the second act.

BERNADETTE MESSED UP??? I guess she ought to be fired immediately!! At over $100 a seat, we should expect an actress who knows her lines and lyrics!! Get her out of there!! Put the understudy on! This is an outrage!!!!!!

I love hearing thats Stritch just needed some time. With performances like this, and s box office dip from the first cast, re-reviews now definitely seem in order.
And i must come back.

This afternoon's matinee let out at 4:59. Despite the lugubrious second act, the production is finally blissful. The company is at a whole new level than when I first saw it, and performers I once found horrendous, namely Ramina Mallory and Hunter Herdlika, are not only tolerable but quite lovely.
Elaine Stritch blows Angela Lansbury out of the water. She stumbled on some lines here and there - all in the second half, all played as pauses or stutters, and it worked considerably well.
As for Bernadette Peters, she's utterly magnificent. Probably the finest female performance currently playing on Broadway. She coughed a few times and had tears streaming down her cheeks during SEND IN THE CLOWNS.
Seeing the two of them is really a treat, especially in the dead of summer - and a sweet little piece of theater history.
