I realize it may seem absurd, but it's been several days since I've seen KING KONG and I still find myself haunted by the performance of the puppet.
Your thoughts on the puppet getting nominated for Best Actor in a musical?

No chance. But I could see them (rightfully) giving that creative team a Special Tony.

The award is for best actor, not best character, or best puppet.

Could you imagine being a Broadway-caliber actor and losing to a puppet?

Agreed. Likely this is the scenario. I could see them getting shut out but getting a special tony for whomever is responsible for the puppet design. Then again, War Horse didn't a special one, so it's possible they don't.

Perhaps I was fortunate in not seeing Ms Pitts. Her alternate was exceptionally good.

Alas, I believe Tony Rules require a best actor nominee to be listed ABOVE the title, not AS the title, so at best the puppet gets a featured actor nod.
