There last night, a couple of rows away from Brantley.
I was completely blown away by the show, and from the gleeful look on his face whilst clapping at the end, he did too.

It might have just been gas.
I was also there last night, and you can add me to the minority of people who didn't like it. A part of me wonders if I'd have liked it better had I been sitting closer (I was in the second row of the balcony) and if the fact that both people next to me fell asleep.
I respect the take on it, and I think it was different and unique. Respective to that, I think the actors did well, minus the accents. But overall I had a really hard time with the production. For me, it was an extremely long and dragging show up until the end, which was a striking visual. I can see how people would like it, but it wasn't for me.
Also, did playbill change their logo at the top or is that specific to this production?

Phantom, that is how Playbills used to look. THE FLICK is doing the same with their Playbills.
Saw this tonight and found it intensely gripping. For whatever it's worth, I didn't know this play, but I am a huge fan of van Hove and think he's an absolute genius. I often find that people speak of his work as if it's full of gimmickry, but what I love about it is that he takes play that, in theory, demand a certain level of production values or realism, and strips them to their essentials. In doing so, every one of his productions has engaged me and thrilled me in a way that very few directors consistently do. Boxing is hugely important in this play, so why not put these characters into a boxing ring and watch them? It works beautifully, and the power of the play is all the better for it. Set and lighting are both excellent, if simple. Accents aside, the cast is all pretty wonderful. Nicola Fox is heartbreaking, and Mark Strong is coldly terrifying. What a terrific production.

The absolute last thing I cared about in this production was the accents. I mean, the kitchen table didn't look like a kitchen table either.
I would agree with that- and it's clear it doesn't matter to van Hove either. And to be perfectly honest, the accents weren't as awful as some are making them out to be. But what matters in this production is the quality of the acting, and it's outstanding across the board.

It amused me while I saw the show to think that people thought the occasional vowel sound took them out of Red Hook!!!
Wait, Red Hook doesn't look like that?
How has rush been for this show lately? Anyone have any experience? Are the seats still in the front row?
I got rush today around 2 and sat in the second row.
I understand that you both are being OVERT with your sarcasm, but the truth of the matter is that their accents were awful. But, I would agree, that they didn't need to being - or trying - for American accents. The story still would have came across fine. So why even attempt them? I saw the first preview, so maybe they've gotten better, but I'd imagine they'd been doing runs in the other two incarnations of the play...so probably not.
"Set and lighting are both excellent, if simple." Ya think?
And I'm curious to see how this sells. Going into it I thought I'd be blown away - but I was in the balcony - and felt oddly disconnected to the whole thing. I could appreciate it, but wasn't engaged. It seems like it would have done better in a smaller house. Or at least with a house that didn't have a balcony.

It doesn't matter how big the house is, just how much of it is behind you.

Nicola Walker or Phoebe Fox?
Any chance in hell of getting a discount on on-stage seats?
Cheaper than $50? Doubtful... although someone on here was trying to get rid of one for Tuesday for slightly less...
$50 would be a steal, they only have them for $135 on telecharge!

I paid $50 plus $10 at Today Tix for on stage seats. It was very good! I recommend onstage

After press night (thursday), stage seats become $135. Haven't found any discounts for those.
seeing this in a few weeks and hope i didn't make the wrong choice by NOT sitting on stage
So, no set, no costumes, no shoes, no intermission? Anything else they get rid of in this production? One has to wonder if Miller would have allowed this.
^ Oh, please....
Saw it from the stage seats this afternoon, and was absolutely mind blown. I was literally shaking during the final scene and even leaving the theater. I adored the last more traditional revival, but it's very hard to compare them, they are completely different. This production is minimalistic, stylized, and keeps you on the edge of your seat for the majority of the play. I loved the intense background music. I feel the last revival was a little more heart wrenching and draining, but this version will literally leave you in awe with your jaw to the floor. I am sure the reviews are going to be very strong.
This has to be one of my favorite American plays. It starts a little slow, but my god, its an absolutely phenomenal plot and tragedy.

They were $50 for every preview performance. You waited until after they opened when the price went up.
