Posted: 7/6/13 at 10:56pmI'm livid. I'm going l complain constantly about it until it comes out and then, if the reviews are good, complain even more.

I think the two Princes should wind up with each other and Snow White and Cinderella should fall in love.
I also think more characters should die. We live in an era of Sandy Hook and Aurora, Colorado. If kids can handle Timothy Green dying, then that weaved-out bitch Rapunzel can get stepped on by a giant.
I want a DARK, DEPRESSING Into the Woods. But then Hollywood hates me, and never listens to a word I say. Proof is that no one would give Dunaway a nickel to make her dream project. And now 15 years later I'm still waiting for the trailer to appear that she promised me a couple of months ago on twitter.
"Don't you hate the world, Matilda?" "No, Mama, I don't hate the world..."
SHUT THE F@#K UP, Matilda.

Losing "Ever After" means that my favorite lyrics in the show are gone:
I was perfect
I had everything but beauty I had power
and a daughter like a flower
In a tower.
Then I went into the woods to get my wish and now I'm ordinary.

No one will ever shut up about this film, will they? Every casting decision will be a four-page argument, followed by dream casting, repeat repeat, then every photo will lead to an argument of how the musical is ruined forever or how it's actually not, followed by the inevitable teaser, then poster, then trailer, then clips, then another trailer, then soundtrack clips, then the movie will be released and it will never end.

They're actually making an Into the Woods movie, and we're NOT supposed to obsess over it? Kad, either I am on the wrong board or you are.
I remember a time, not too long ago, when the chance of Hollywood making any Sondheim musical into a film was nil.

Posted: 7/9/13 at 8:25pmThey're probably cutting "Ever After" because the first half is sung by the Narrator and there will be no narrator in this film.

Posted: 7/9/13 at 8:31pmDoubt that. EVER AFTER is there to wrap up a long first act. It adds a finality to act 1, which almost makes it a complete story (although act 2 is pivotal, the JR production only uses act 1). There is absolutely no need for that finality in a film, it has to flow effortlessly. I do love EVER AFTER though.

Posted: 7/9/13 at 11:44pmI actually think they could make Ever After work in Cinderella's wedding scene. Have a chorus of peasants sing it or something. Honestly, though, it's not a huge loss. The rest of the script is pretty solid.
