Really, though - while if Stritch took it it wouldn't hurt things, Bernadette alone is enough to extend, at least till the end of the summer.

I wonder though, how much one week on Haitus would cost, holding the theatre, not paying actors/crew and no gross, versus one week with understudies, with some gross. Which would lose less money?

Hiatus, definitely. By a landslide. The difference between the running costs and the little ticket sales they'd have that week is significantly larger than the cost of not running for a week. Especially when you consider that, if the show isn't playing, replacement rehearsals won't be overtime.

If it happens, I'd expect a hiatus of more than a week. Don't forget, once the actors confirm, they then have to learn the music, rehearse the blocking, and get new costumes fitted and built. That all takes more than two weeks.

^ Not to mention they need to change the marquee, change the pictures outside of the theater, change some of the merchandise, start a new ad campaign, etc, etc.

Muscle, they have both been working nonstop in other places. Stritch has a recurrent character on 30 ROCK for which she has won an Emmy and been nominated for others, not to mention her highly praised cabaret performances. Bernadette Peters has a solid concert career, her charity and she has denied dozens of offers to come back to Broadway in a plethora of roles.

Yes...It was leaked last night on the woman's Facebook page who is in charge of taking care of the young girls in the LNM cast. There's going to be roughly a 2 week break prior to the new cast. They will start mid-July.

^ No, because Peters can still pass for being in her 40's. Pairing her with Aaron Lazar will give their relationship a "cougar/boy toy" vibe.

She's a total cougar, and she clearly goes to the best plastic surgeons in America because she has a face and body that just won’t quit, but she's old enough to be the current Fredrika's grandmother. I may be wrong, but in other productions, don't they cast Fredrika with a slightly older girl than the girls currently playing on broadway?

^ Yes. But again, Peters can still pass for her 40's. The girls will look fine with her.

I agree. She's one of the very few actresses her age who could step into this production and have it work just fine

Maybe if we're talking like really late 40s. I'm just being picky. If I were a producer or director of the show, I would get rid of the two young girls and hire an eighteen year old that can play younger and do eight shows a week, but I'm not. With that said, I'm extremely excited to see Peters and Stritch back on broadway and in these roles.

I have no desire to see an 18-year-old Fredrika. Her age is 13, and that's given in the script.
If they were to recast Fredrika, then let's go back to 30-year-old Anne and Henriks, and 50-year-old Count and Countesses.
The production will be just fine as it is.

I have no desire to see Bernadette Peters sit next to an actual thirteen year old girl and claim that they are mother and daughter, but I will. Even with these two brilliant performers, the shows not going to be pulling in the Zeta-Jones/Lansbury cash. They should cut costs where they can. Not like it really affects my life or may viewing experience. I'm just voicing my opinion.
