I wonder though, how much one week on Haitus would cost, holding the theatre, not paying actors/crew and no gross, versus one week with understudies, with some gross. Which would lose less money? Hiatus, definitely. By a landslide. The difference between the running costs and the little ticket sales they'd have that week is significantly larger than the cost of not running for a week. Especially when you consider that, if the show isn't playing, replacement rehearsals won't be overtime.
If it happens, I'd expect a hiatus of more than a week. Don't forget, once the actors confirm, they then have to learn the music, rehearse the blocking, and get new costumes fitted and built. That all takes more than two weeks.
