I just got this email from Telecharge confirming that they DO in fact refund service charges:
"Dear Telecharge.com Patron:
You are receiving this email because you have ordered tickets for THE SEAFARER at the Booth Theatre for a performance on Tuesday November 13, 2007. We apologize for the inconvenience, but these performances have been canceled due to a strike by the stagehands union. We remain committed to negotiate 24/7 with the stagehands union to resolve this dispute in order to turn the lights back on Broadway as soon as possible.
We would be pleased to assist you in obtaining tickets for an alternate performance. To arrange for tickets please visit our web site, www.telecharge.com or call 212-239-6200. In addition, we will be crediting your account for your tickets (including all service charges) within two business days of the performance."

In another thread, Jaystarr said he got a TDF refund notification and the amount he mentioned getting back was $3 more than the price I see on my current TDF list. Could that be a refund of the handling fee? Or maybe he paid a higher price for a weekend ticket? Updated On: 11/12/07 at 07:12 PM

Thank God I was able to purchase my tickets directly at the box ofice.
No. TDF does not refund the $3.00 service fee...I just checked my e-mails..
https://forum.broadwayworld.com/readmessage.cfm?thread=936583&dt=11
bec. the total cost was $ 35.50 ( Tix is $32.50 + $3.00 service fee) and the refund was only $32.50- so I guess I lose my $3.00 service fee?
I lose $3.00 for August :Osage County and probably another $6.00 for two on
Rock N Roll. (if it get cxld too) I guess.. that's life

I actually got an e-mail from Ticketmaster stating that my show tomorrow (Tues) was cancelled, and to expect a refund within
7-10 days. I am only surpised, because their customer service usually stinks.

Its sad but true. Those fees cover costs on their end and they are technically doing their part by processing the order and tickets. It just comes down to how strongly they feel good customer service is. Because Ticketmaster has essentially a monolopy on the ticketing market they know they can get away with it. Except for sharing the Broadway market with Telecharge, Ticketmaster is unchallenged with concert tickets, etc.
Not sure if anyone else noticed, but Ticketmaster IS refunding the total ticket price, incl the processing fee.
The processing fee is being credit back as a separate refund.
I was refunded $63 for my "Wicked" ticket, plus another refund of $3.10.
Jaystarr: The TDF fee is $3 per order, not $3 per ticket. I know it's still cash you don't get back, which sucks, but it's not as bad as you thought.
Unless you bought each ticket separately.

TDF refunded us 100% for our pair of Grinch tickets for last night, $3 handling fee and all. So no crying children here...
