I think it was only a little over a year and a half.

And as Jackie Hoffman says on Theater Talk, what kept that show going: "We had the love of the people...YOU NEVER RUN OUT OF MORONS!!"

Hysterical, and probably less than half kidding.

There was never much love for the show, but I saw it last January, when everything else in town close (I had a ticket for Women on the Verge!!!) and I enjoyed it.
I had never seen Nathan Lane on stage and that alone was worth my money.

Based on the wonderful original subject matter, this should have been a show which ran for ten years. Great cast but just second-level material. I wonder what Marc Shaiman would have done with this show?

Saw the show in July with Brooke, it was a pleasant surprise. My family and I found it hilarious and thoroughly enjoyed it. Definitely a fun night out. Will miss this show. Can't wait to see it on tour

The current tour is the definitive version of The Addams Family. Lithe, buoyant, and charming.

I DETESTED the show on Broadway and I greatly enjoyed the tour. Too bad they didn't tinker more with the show in Chicago before it got to NYC. The Broadway version is just so bloated.

I wish they'd record the Tour Cast. They are impeccable.

The NY Version needs to close.

I saw the show a couple of months ago and have never seen an actor look as bored and angry to have to be on stage as Brooke Shields looked. My friend looked at me about a half hour into the show and whispered "Is she mad at Roger Rees?" But it was the same with everyone. I felt bad for her being in that dreck. It was an embarrassment to all involved and I'm glad they'll all have a chance to get into something better than this.

^I hope they record one of the other casts too so we can get a recording with the new songs. OR they can do what 13, Shrek and Footloose have done and bring in original Broadway cast members to record the new material for a rerelease so that the recording matches the licensed version.

I hated the show on Broadway, but looking forward to seeing the improved tour when it comes to Los Angeles.

Doug Sills and Sara Gettelfinger are magical. Lane and Neuwirth were too old and Lane is asexual, which Gomez is not.

Ditto what Bettyboy72 has said. The tour is near perfection. The leads in the tour ARE perfection. When I first heard they were creating an Addams Family musical, I was extremely cynical. Saw the tour on a whim and it was a pleasant surprise - fun, witty, charming.. dare I say even touching at times. I would have seen it again in a heat beat. It sounds like five years from now, THE ADDAMS FAMILY will be an answer to a thread on here entitled "SHOWS YOU SAW ON TOUR THAT WERE BETTER THAN THE BROADWAY VERSION."

Jackie said it was New Year's Eve and could not get enough Dick and she waited a few seconds and then said Clark and the whole cast just started laughing and she said it another two times and Brad Oscar was in tears from laughing so much.Then she said that she just peed and the whole place just erupted in laughter.
It was classic Jackie at her best.
